Mandira Dickoya offers comfortable accommodation, good food and courteous service in a wonderful tea plantation setting in the south-west highlands. The bungalow interiors have wooden floors and fireplaces and are furnished with antiques. The garden edged with colourful flower beds is surrounded by lush green tea hills. This bungalow can be booked by the room or as a whole and can accommodate up to 10 guests. Mandira Dickoya is the sister property of Mandira Strathdon and is owned by the Sunshine Holdings Company.
There are four bedrooms which consist of one family suite, two double rooms and one twin room. All have garden views and ensuite bathrooms with h/w showers. Family Suite – is furnished with a double bed and two single beds and can accommodate up to four guests. Double rooms: The two double rooms also have a sitting area. Twin room: Furnished with two single beds and also has a sitting area.
There is a living room with a fireplace; television lounge with cable TV and music system; and a dining room with an antique 10-seater table; and an outdoor terrace with scenic views. Meals are served in the dining room or outdoors on the terrace. Sri Lankan and western cuisine is served here. Upon request, the cook will also do a BBQ on the terrace.
Mandira Dickoya Bungalow is a refurbished colonial period planter’s bungalow that has been converted into an appealing four-bedroom guesthouse. Set over 4,000 ft above sea level, the bungalow is on an extensive tea plantation surrounded by picturesque mountains. Dickoya can be accessed via Kitulgala and Ratnapura or via Nuwara Eliya which will take up about two hours. Around six hours from Colombo, or consider air taxi options. You can also head to the south coast via a daily sea plane service between Hatton and Koggala.
