View Point Villa is a popular Ella Guesthouse, ten minutes from this scenic hill-country town, with spectacular views across tea plantations and mountains. Ella is located in the southern highlands and can be accessed by train. If you’re travelling by car, Ella is accessible via Nuwara Eliya, the south via Wellawaya, or pass Kitulgala and Ratnapura.
Introduction
View Point Villa is perched on a hill affording 360 degree views of misty mountains and tea estates. This guesthouse has six spacious bedrooms housed in five individual chalets. There is a small reception area at the bottom of the hill. Chalet interiors are light and cheery and open out to a balcony or terrace with breathtaking mountain views and tea plantation views. Relax on your balcony with a cup of Ceylon tea; venture off on a trek to little Adam’s Peak or the Ella gap; by dusk take in the beautiful sunset and have a candlelit dinner in the privacy of your own room. All meals are served in your own chalet. With much climbing to do, View Point Villa is not recommended for those with mobility difficulties.

Accommodation
The six bedrooms are housed in four single storey chalets and one two storey chalet. All rooms open out to a private balcony or terrace with spectacular mountain views. Each room is different and has colourful interiors. Rooms are well furnished with king size beds. Some of the rooms can be converted into triples upon request. In-room facilities include in-room dining, tea/coffee facility, room service, laundry service, and ensuite bathrooms have h/w showers.
Facilities
The reception cum lounge also has internet facility and computer for guests to use. There is a separate bar and dining area with mountain views attached to one of the chalets which guests are welcome to use, if this chalet is not occupied. Sri Lankan cuisine, some western dishes and snacks are on offer. The chef is happy to share his traditional Sri Lankan recipes with guests and with prior notice, will also prepare a picnic lunch. View Point Villa has scooters and a trishaw for hire.
Excursions
Several treks are possible from here to Little Adam’s Peak, the ancient Dova Temple, Ravana caves and Ravana falls associated with the epic Ramayana tales. View Point Villa will organise a guide for the treks. Visit to a nearby tea estate and tea factory. Venture further south to Bandarawala and Haputale where there are several scenic waterfalls including Dunhinda and Diyaluma. The Adisham Benedictine Monastery in Haputale which dates back to the colonial period is also an interesting morning’s excursion.
