Location
Cocoon Resort & Villas is a luxurious boutique hotel spread across eight acres of hilly, landscaped gardens in the village of Kaikawala, about 1.5 kms inland from the west coast village of Induruwa. The travel time from Colombo’s international airport will take about three hours which will be reduced considerably once the Southern highway is completed by the end of 2011.
Introduction
Cocoon Resort & Villas, of ornate almost Middle Eastern design, sprawls across tropical gardens landscaped with walkways and waterways. The main reception is housed in a refurbished old walawua (manor house) which leads to a lounge, bar and restaurant. Guests are driven in a motorised golf cart to the rooms and villas which are spread across the estate. The interiors here are luxurious and fitted with all modern conveniences. The Cocoon Resort provides a personalised service and a peaceful setting for a relaxing holiday.

Accommodation
There are 16 Cocoon Silk Rooms; the villas are located in the Cocoon Valley and consist of three Grand Villas, two Extravagant Villas and eight Luxury Villas. Rooms and villas are spacious and comfortably furnished with king-size beds, sofas and lounge chairs. In-room facilities include a/c, overhead fans, cable TV, wifi internet, iPod dock, coffee/tea facility, mini-bar, and 24 hours room service.

Cocoon Silk Rooms: The 16 Silk Rooms are located closer to the restaurant in two-storey buildings. Each consists of four Standard rooms. The ground floor rooms open out to a private verandah while the upstairs rooms open out to a balcony with garden views. Ensuite bathrooms have Jacuzzi baths and h/w showers.

Grand Villas (1,100 sq. ft): Located in the Cocoon Valley, these three villas are luxurious and have private swimming pools. Each villa consists of a bedroom, living and dining areas and is set amidst private gardens. Ensuite bathroom have a Jacuzzi and h/w shower. In addition to the standard facilities, the Grand Villas also has a private bar.

Extravagant Villas: There are five Extravagant Villas with each consisting of a bedroom, living and dinging areas and Jacuzzi on the terrace or ensuite bathroom.

Luxury Villas: The two Luxury Villas have living and dining areas, and a verandah that skirts around. Ensuite bathrooms have a Jacuzzi and h/w shower.
Facilities
The main restaurant serves up North Indian cuisine prepared by Indian chefs, Sri Lankan and western cuisine. There is also a Pizzeria, and a Tea House serving Ceylon Tea, cakes and pastries. A romantic dinner at the beach is also organised on special occasions. For those wanting to dine in their own villa, the chef will be happy to prepare a BBQ on site. Relax at one of two swimming pools located within the estate or spend a morning at `The Bath’ – a wellness centre with a spa and fully equipped gym. The spa offers a range of relaxing Ayurvedic massages and beauty treatments. Take in a traditional Sri Lankan dance or musical performance at `The Stage’. Guests are provided with a beach experience at The Cocoon’s private beach located 3 kms away where swimming is possible during the season from December to April. A shuttle service to the beach is provided for in-house guests.
Excursions
Water sports including surfing, snorkeling, jet skiing are on offer nearby in Bentota and Hikkaduwa. Go out to sea in a catamaran with the fisherman or take a boat ride along the tranquil Madu River past quaint rural villages, en route, visit the local markets, temples & craft and antique shops. Visit Kosgoda’s Marine Turtle hatchery – a valuable conservation project that protects the endangered Marine Turtles of Sri Lanka. Experience Ambalangoda’s cultural heritage with a visit to the Ariyapala Mask Museum where intricate masks used in various southern traditional dance forms are on display. Masked dancing is also performed here regularly. An hour’s drive will take you to the historic town of Galle and the 17th century Dutch Fort, a UNESCO-protected World Heritage site. Explore Galle Fort’s narrow streets lined with Dutch and British colonial era buildings which are still in use, sturdy ramparts looking out to sea, the lighthouse, and a growing collection of museums, art galleries, shops, and several boutique hotels.
