Sun n Sea is an eight-roomed guesthouse perched on a tiny outcrop at the southern edge of Unawatuna Bay, allowing it sweeping views down the coast to the historic city of Galle a few miles away. The journey from Colombo’s International Airport will take about four hours which will be reduced considerably once the Southern highway is completed by the end of 2011.
Introduction
Sun n Sea is a two-storey guesthouse opening right on to the Indian Ocean. It sits alone at one end of Unawatuna's glorious horseshoe bay, looking down on the fishermen and sun worshippers and has a loyal clientele who love its great position and simple charms. The rooms here are unadorned, yet comfortable and open to a tiny balcony or terrace with sea views. Laze on the terrace and take in the spectacular sunset. There is a rocky reef right in front of the hotel. Swimming is possible in the bay with relative safety during peak season from December to April.

Accommodation
Of the eight bedrooms - four double rooms are located on the ground floor; three double rooms and a family suite are located on the upper floor. In-room facilities include a/c and overhead fans. Ensuite bathrooms have h/w showers.

Ground floor Rooms: These four double rooms open out to the terrace shaded by large tropical trees and overlook the sea. Rooms are furnished with king-size beds.

Upper floor Rooms: These three double rooms are smaller in size and open out to a balcony that skirts around with spectacular sea views. Rooms are furnished with twin or double beds.

Family Suite: This spacious suite opens on to a balcony with sea views and is furnished with a four-poster double bed. Additional bedding is available upon request.
Facilities
The ground floor has a small sitting area and reception desk and leads to the rear terrace overlooking the sea. Dining is in the main restaurant which is popular for their Sri Lankan meals and also accommodates non-resident guests. Western dishes and seafood specialties are also served here. There is no swimming pool here, but the adjoining crescent shaped bay is ideal for swimming during the season.
Excursions
Swimming, surfing and scuba diving is possible during the season form December to April in Unawatuna, Ahangama and Mirissa. Experience Unawatuna’s youthful lifestyle and the rustic beach bars and restaurants. Visit the Rhumassala Temple with beautiful views stretching out over the Indian Ocean. A walk around the headland near the temple is very special. Famed for the natural medicinal herbs nearby you will walk through hidden villages and verdant jungle valleys eventually finding yourself on "Jungle Beach"- a little-known and secluded beach. The south of Sri Lanka beyond Dondra is considered one of the best locations in the world for spotting blue whales, sperm whales and spinner dolphins. Whale watching excursions into the deep seas is organised by Mirissa Water Sports during the season when the seas are calm. Explore Galle’s 17C Dutch Fort, a UNESCO-protected World Heritage site and a melting pot of cultural influences. With its well-preserved ramparts overlooking the cricket stadium, the grand old lighthouse staring into the Indian Ocean, the narrow streets, interesting restaurants and boutique hotels full of character, Galle Fort deserves hours of exploration.
