Villa Sulanga is one of two beach villas owned by Talaramba Reef. It is set in sprawling gardens edged by turquoise seas in the village of Talaramba near Mirissa, 40 kms south of Galle and 80 kms from the Yala National Park. The journey from Colombo’s International Airport will take approximately five hours - or take the Air Taxi and fly to Koggala, which is about 30 minutes’ drive away.
Introduction
Talaramba’s Villa Sulanga and Villa Vatura adjoin each other, but with separate facilities including swimming pools. With sprawling gardens, spacious villas, and a personalised service, this is an ideal location for a relaxing beach holiday or even a special family celebration. Each villa can house up to 12 guests and the villas can be booked separately or together.

'Vathura' meaning water in Sinhalese, is a spacious two-storey beach villa designed with polished cement floors, slatted timber doors, and broad verandahs on either side that lets you enjoy the tropical sun and ocean breeze. The ground floor consists of living and dining areas and also includes a separate TV lounge. The bedrooms are spacious and comforatable. Interiors are tastefully decorated with natural colours, plush sofas and king size beds. Gardens at Villa Vathura are extensive and scattered with coconut and Frangipani trees and often visited by numerous birds including peacock.

Accommodation
Villa Vathura consists of four a/c bedrooms of which three double rooms are located on the upper floor and one double room is located on the ground floor. All bedrooms open on to a balcony or verandah overlooking the garden and sea beyond. Bedrooms are furnished with king size four-poster beds dressed in fine white linen. Extra beds are available upon request. Ensuite bathrooms have twin wash basins, bathtub and h/w shower.
Facilities
Ground floor consists of a living room opening out to a spacious verandah and a separate TV lounge equipped with cable TV, DVD player, books and board games. The garden verandah has a 10-seater dining table. Meals are served on the verandah, in your private balcony or in the gardens. The villa rate includes Sri Lankan or western breakfast. Other meals are at cost price. The cook will also shop for groceries. Guests can bring their own alcohol. Other villa facilities include coffee/tea, internet, board games, petanque and croquet, four bicycles, surf boards and boogie boards which guests are free to use. There are two swimming pools at Talaramba Reef with Villa Vathura having its own private pool. The gardens are well equipped with lounges and chairs for dining under the stars or just lazing around. The sea right in front of Villa Vathura is not suitable for swimming due to the reef. A five minute stroll takes you to a secluded stretch of beach that is ideal for swimming during the season from December to April. Villa Vathura is staffed with a manager, cook and housekeeping staff.

Meals are served on the verandah, in your private balcony or in the gardens. The rate includes Sri Lankan or western breakfast. Other meals are at cost price. There is an experienced cook who will do the grocery shopping as well as prepare tasty meals to your liking. Guests are welcome to bring their own alcoholic beverages. Other facilities include coffee/tea, internet facility, board games, petanque and croquet, four bicycles, surf boards and boogie boards which guests are free to use. There are two swimming pools at Talaramba Reef. The gardens are well equipped with lounges and chairs for dining under the stars or just lazing around. Excursions
Based at Mirissa Harbour, Mirissa Water Sports offers exciting water sports activities such as sailing, fishing, coastal cruises, sea kayaking, snorkelling and boating. The south of Sri Lanka beyond Dondra is considered one of the best locations in the world for spotting blue whales, sperm whales and spinner dolphins. Whale watching excursions into the deep seas is organised by Mirissa Water Sports during the season from December to April when the seas are calm. We also recommend a visit to Galle’s 17C Dutch Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with narrow streets lined with Dutch and British colonial era buildings which are still in use, sturdy ramparts looking out to sea, the lighthouse, and a growing collection of art galleries, shops, restaurants and several boutique hotels.
