Location
Master Campers offers mobile tented safaris within the major National Parks including Wilpattu in the North West, Uda Walawe in the south central region, and Yala in the deep south; as well as beach camping on the North Eastcoast. They also offer camping just outside the Bundala bird sanctuary and the Sinharaja rainforest. The campsites within the National Parks are situated deep within the jungles. Uda Walawe’s site is located amidst a picturesque setting on the banks of the Walawe River and takes about 45 minutes to reach once you enter the National Park. Guests are expected to arrive at the park entrance by 12:00 noon.
Introduction
Master Campers offers a mid-range wildlife safari camping as well as a beach camping experience. A friendly and personalised service is provided. The mobile camping sites are set up before the guests arrive and cleared out completely afterwards, in keeping with strict eco-friendly policies. The campsites consist of four to five accommodation tents, a dining tent and kitchen tent. Set off on an early morning wildlife safari into the jungles; return to the camp to a leisurely breakfast followed by a dip in the river. By nightfall, relax with a drink by a roaring bon fire and enjoy the magical night in the wilds.

In keeping with the Wildlife Department regulations, Master Campers accommodates a maximum of 12 guests in the campsites within the National Parks. Up to 20 guests can be accommodated when camping outside the parks. An experienced manager, chef, housekeeping staff, and jeep drivers work together to provide a memorable holiday experience. The Master Campers cost per head includes accommodation, all meals and snacks; all beverages including tea/coffee, bottled water, soft drinks and juices, a limited number of local beers; all game drives, National Park entrance fees and wildlife tracker fees. Although there is no required minimum nights stay, Red Dot recommends staying at least two nights in order to gain fully from this memorable experience.

Accommodation
Accommodation is in sturdy double tents (11 ft x 9 ft) or family tents (12 ft x 10 ft).These Gelert tents are fire resistant, waterproof and have entrances that can be zipped up to keep away insects and mosquitoes. Interiors are furnished with single or double beds, a shelf to keep your belongings, a light which can also be used as a torch, solar powered fan, and camp chairs in the tent verandah where you can take in the river or sea views. Each tent has a w/c located nearby. The shower is shared amongst four guests.
Facilities
Meals are served in the dining tent or outdoors by the bonfire. There is a choice of Sri Lankan or Western breakfast. Lunch is usually traditional rice and curries, and dinner is a sumptuous five course meal. The Master Campers base camp is conveniently located in Uda Walawe close to the National Parks and is fully equipped with freezer, storage facilities, and ample supplies. The base camp is fully geared to deliver supplies and back up support to the various Master Campers operations that takes place at times simultaneously, in the different destinations. Other camp facilities include a CDMA telephone with IDD facilities and first-aid certified team member. Land Rovers and Toyoto Hilux jeeps are used for the game drives. A back up vehicle is provided upon request for the game drives.

A strict eco-friendly policy is followed with all waste material taken completely out of the National Parks. Guests are encouraged to use water sparingly and made aware of nature conservation.

The safari parks:

Uda Walawe National Park
in Sri Lanka's south-central sector, is the area which most resembles an African game park. Wildlife reports say there are about 500 elephants in the park and they often roam in herds of up to 100.

Yala National Park with a total protected area of 126,768 hectares, is one of the best places to see a wide variety of Sri Lankan wildlife because of its scrub plains, lagoons and rocky sections. Boasting one of the world's densest leopard populations, Yala also has elephants, sloth bears, sambar deer, spotted deer, wild boar, crocodiles, monkeys and buffalos and numerous species of birds.

Wilpattu National Park
covering an area of 1,085 sq. kms, has several unusual features, including a small fishing village, coastal cliff-tops as well as a collection of ‘villus’ (freshwater lakes) providing natural habitats for a variety of ‘big game’ including leopards, sloth bear, deer, water buffalo and many species of birds.

Wasgomuwa National Park islocated within the Central and North Central provinces and covers an area of approximately 39,000 hectares. Famous for the elephants frequenting the Mahaweli River, which runs along one of the boundaries of the park, Wasgomuwa is also home to numerous other animals including sloth bear, sambur, spotted and barking deer, wild boar, the purple-faced leaf monkey, and 143 species of birds.

Sinharaja Tropical Rainforest is a UNESCO International Man and Biosphere Reserve and is a World Heritage Site. The forest houses an incredible array of flora and fauna including a 73 endemic species of birds, butterflies, fish, mammals, reptiles and amphibians, making it a world famous hotspot for biodiversity.

Bundala Bird Sanctuary combines 20km of beach, lagoons and scrub bordering the sea and hosting more than 150 bird species including winter migratory birds and large flocks of flamingos.

Nilaveli is a coastal village located in Trincomalee in the North East. The unpoilt white sandy beaches extend for miles and the turquoise seas are best for surfing and snorkelling during the season from March to October. Go on a Whale and dolphinspotting excursion into the deep seas.

Pasekudah is located south of Trincomalee in the North East. The secluded beaches here are similar to those of Nilaveli. Go snorkelling and discover colourful coral gardens and exotic reef fish.
