The Gateway Hotel, previously known as Airport Garden Hotel, is a 113 roomed four-star hotel only 4 kms from Colombo’s international airport. It lies in Seeduwa, about 45 minutes from the heart of Colombo and is 30 minutes south of Negombo.
Introduction
The Gateway Hotel Airport Garden is set amidst a 38 acre coconut plantation leading to the picturesque Negombo Lagoon. Owned by the Taj group, it is popular as a first or last stop in Sri Lanka with travelers seeking a traditional hotel.

Accommodation
There are 110 Superior and Executive rooms and three Suites overlooking landscaped gardens or the Negombo Lagoon. In-room facilities include a/c, overhead fans, cable TV, IDD telephone, internet, mini-bar, tea/coffee facility, safety lockers, room service and laundry service. There is also 24 hour in-room dining facility. The three Suites at the Gateway Hotel Airport Garden are spacious and consist of an ensuite bedroom and separate living area.
Facilities
The Buzz is a 24 hours restaurant with a contemporary feel overlooking the swimming pool and the gardens and offering Sri Lankan, Indian and continental cuisine. The Golden Dragon serves a range of Szechwan and Canton cuisine. There is also a bar. Other hotel facilities include a swimming pool, volleyball, tennis, wind surfing, fully equipped fitness centre, spa, doctor-on-call, children’s park, beauty salon, business centre, conference facilities, shopping arcade, and Heli pad. This is a Green Globe certified eco-friendly hotel.
Excursions
Venture off to Negombo and explore the fishing villages, ride on a catamaran with the fisherman, or visit old Dutch and Portuguese period churches. For those interested in nature and the wilderness, take a boat ride into the Muthurajawela marshes and the Negombo Lagoon - home to numerous species of birds and fish, dragon flies and monitor lizards. Explore the capital city of Colombo with its colonial period churches, temples and kovils, and the National Museum. Do a bit of last minute shopping at Paradise Road, Barefoot or ODEL.
