Avani Bentota is a beach hotel of excellent quality fronting the turquoise seas of Bentota, a much-loved family resort on Sri Lanka's popular south-west coast. The journey from Colombo’s international airport to Bentota will take about two hours via the Southern highway.
Introduction
Avani Bentota Resort & Spa was originally designed by Sri Lanka’s iconic architect, the late Geoffrey Bawa. Its previous guise was as Hotel Serendib and it rebranded as an improved 4-star in 2011. The hotel interiors are modern and contemporary in design with well appointed rooms and stylish public spaces. Avani Bentota fronts a broad sandy beach that is ideal for swimming during the season from December to April. Plenty of watersports are on offer from wind surfing to jet and water skiing in the nearby Bentota lagoon.

Accommodation
Avani Bentota offers Superior, Deluxe and Suite Rooms all with private balconies or terrace with sea views. Rooms have modern décor and in-room facilities include a/c, overhead fan, large flat-screen cable TV, DVD player, tea/coffee facility, mini-bar, hair dryer, and safe.

Superior Rooms: The 60 Superior Rooms have ensuite bathrooms with h/w showers.

Deluxe Rooms: These 13 rooms are more spacious and consist of an additional dressing area; ensuite bathroom with bathtub and shower; and a butler service.

Suites: The two luxurious suites have in-room dining and lounging space; ensuite bathroom with shower and Jacuzzi; and a butler service.
Facilities
Dine in the main restaurant, on the beach with the ocean lapping at your feet, in the gardens under a starlit sky or in the privacy o your own room. There are three restaurant serving Sri Lankan and international cuisine and seafood speciality dishes and a cigar and wine bar. Breeze is a buffet-style restaurant. Frangipani offers fine dining. Other hotel facilities include a fully equipped gym, two outdoor freshwater swimming pools and separate children’s pool; beach volleyball, watersports, conference facilities, business centre with wifi internet, 24 hour room service and laundry service. The garden spa offers a range of relaxing massages and beauty treatments.
Excursions
Several water sports including surfing, snorkeling, jet skiing are on offer just nearby in Bentota and Hikkaduwa. Go out to sea in a catamaran with the fisherman or take a boat ride along the tranquil Madu River past quaint rural villages, en route, visit the local markets, temples & craft and antique shops. Visit the nearby Lunuganga –a garden retreat that was created by Sri Lanka’s iconic architect, Geoffrey Bawa. The Lunuganga gardens were a life long project cherished by Bawa and designed with numerous varieties of foliage, many pavilions, and statues. Visit Kosgoda’s Marine Turtle hatchery – a valuable conservation project that protects the endangered Marine Turtles of Sri Lanka. Experience the southern folklore and cultural heritage with a visit to the Ariyapala Mask Museum in Ambalangoda where intricate masks used in various southern traditional dance forms are on display. Masked dancing is also performed here regularly.
