Palpatha, meaning a simple village hut, is a small eco-friendly holiday retreat set amidst tropical wilderness with the tranquil Kala Oya flowing at one end of the property. A narrow roadway leads to this secluded retreat which is essentially a small village in its self with a central wattle and daub hut where guests meet up for drinks and dine on traditional Sri Lankan rice and curries; and three individual chalets providing comfortable accommodation. Relax under the shade of a tall tamarind tree surrounded by bird call; stay in wattle and daub chalets with thatched roofs; and enjoy the peaceful natural surroundings. Wild life enthusiasts will cherish the experience of going on a jeep safari into the Wilpattu National Park - home to the elusive leopard, sloth bear, deer, water buffalo and numerous species of birds. Palpatha follows a strict nature conservation policy and ensures minimal impact on the environment. Solar power is used for lighting a few bulbs with oil lamps lit along the pathways at night creating a magical air. Palpatha is given out to only one party at a time ensuring privacy on an all inclusive basis. Up to nine guests can be accommodated at Palaptha.
