Day 1, 2, 3 & 4Upon arriving in Sri Lanka take a two-hour transfer to Serene Pavilions, a new luxurious boutique hotel situated in Wadduwa, where Sri Lanka’s west coach beaches begin for real. Relax here for four days by the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. Once you have unpacked, you may want for nothing more. More restive souls can experience this area’s cultural heritage with a visit to the Ariyapala Mask Museum where intricate masks used in various southern traditional dance forms are on display. Or take a boat ride along the tranquil Madu River past quaint rural villages, en route, visit the local markets, temples & craft and antique shops. Several water sports including surfing, snorkelling, jet skiing are on offer down the coast in Bentota and Hikkaduwa. Visit Kosgoda’s Marine Turtle hatchery – a valuable conservation project that protects the endangered Marine Turtles of Sri Lanka.

Day 5, 6, 7 & 8Travel along the beautiful palm fringed coast to Tangalle in the deep south where you will stay four nights at Amanwella, a luxurious beachside boutique hotel. Tangalle and the surrounding areas are renowned for its superb unspoiled and undeveloped beaches. Around Dickwella and Tangalle there are also some of the country’s best diving spots. As well as the bright corals and exotic fish, there is the opportunity to go cave and wreck diving. Visit Yala National Park - one of the largest national parks in the island with the broadest cross-section of the country’s flora and fauna. Yala is probably the best place to see all of the ‘big three’ - elephant, leopard & water buffalo. The Bundala Bird Sanctuary is located 45 minutes away. Visit Rekuwa, a small fishing village near Tangalle where a fascinating Marine Turtle Conservation project is helping to save this endangered species.

Day 9, 10, 11 & 12Journey back along the beautiful beaches of the south coast until you reach the fishing village of Thalpe just 10 minutes away from the historic city of Galle. We propose that you finish in unapologetic luxury and stay at Era Beach, a new boutique hotel set on a broad, sandy beach guarded by swaying palms. Visit the Martin Wickramasinghe Folk Museum in Koggala just minutes from the hotel and discover the age-old crafts and rituals of the Deep South. Visit Galle’s 17th century Dutch Fort . Several hours can be spent wandering along the narrow streets and well preserved ramparts or relaxing in the sprinkling of art shops and cafes, The thick, high ramparts that protect and distinguish the Fort are today used for romantic evening strolls, early morning power-walks and convenient free viewpoints for the international games held in Galle cricket stadium below. Based at Mirissa Harbour, Mirissa Water Sports offers exciting water sports activities such as sailing, fishing, coastal cruises, river trips, sea kayaking, snorkelling and boating activities for visitors to the South coast. During the season from December to April, Mirissa Water Sports organises Dolphin and Whale watching excursions. Seas surrounding Sri Lanka has been identified as one of the best areas in the world to spot the giant Blue Whale. Mirissa Water Sports is a charitable organization helping to generate employment for the youth from the tsunami affected coastal areas.

Day 13Today you head back to the capital city of Colombo for your final night where you will be staying at Tintagel – a newly opened luxurious boutique hotel housed in one of Sri Lanka’s most famous ancestral residences belonging to the family of Sri Lanka’s former President. Experience Colombo’s colonial architecture with a visit to the Fort - a three mile long rampart originally built in the sixteenth century by the Portuguese and then further developed by the Dutch and the British. Here, many of the old colonial buildings jostle for attention with the rest of Colombo’s modern skyline.
