The Sri Lanka Travel Specialists
Aaloka means 'light' in Sinhalese and this beach villa is bright and airy and designed to let the tropical sun and ocean breeze flow through. The villa is built along the lines of a traditional southern home with the bedrooms and living spaces opening on to a central courtyard. Spend your day relaxing on the verandah overlooking the turquoise seas. Aaloka Villa welcomes families with children and is equipped to keep them entertained. Aaloka is booked on a villa-only basis and can accommodate up to 10 guests.
There are three ensuite bedrooms of which two are furnished with four-poster king-sized beds. The third bedroom is primarily designed for children as it sleeps six in single size bunk beds, but the beds are also suitable for adults. There is a travel cot for babies or very young children. All bedrooms are accessed through the central courtyard and the two double rooms have sea views. Bedrooms are equipped with a/c, overhead fans, and ensuite bathrooms with open-air showers.
The open-plan living and dining veranda fronts the gardens, swimming pool and sea beyond. There is also a separate air-conditioned lounge equipped with satellite TV, DVD player, books and board games. You can choose to cook your own meals in the fully equipped kitchen, or let the in-house cook prepare the meals for you. There is a menu with a range of traditional Sri Lankan and Western dishes: discuss your meal preferences ahead of time. Fresh seafood is purchased from the local fisherman and home grown fruits and vegetables are bought at the village fair. Guests are welcome to bring their own alcoholic beverages. As well as extensive gardens, outdoor facilities include a swimming pool and beach volleyball. Aaloka Villa fronts a 40m secluded stretch of beach which is ideal for early morning walks. Swimming is possible here during the season from December to April, but there can be under currents and guests are advised to be cautious. Aaloka Villa has a team of three live-in staff members.
Aaloka is a three-bedroom beach villa set in the remote village of Ranna in the deep south, close to the Kalametiya Bird Sanctuary. If travelling directly from Colombo’s international airport, avoid a long drive by hopping on board an Air Taxi which lands at Dickwella and cover the remaining 30km by road. A daily sea plane service also exists between Hatton in the tea country and Koggala on the south coast and we can book seats at competitive rates.
