Media Reviews
"Beautifully located, the 250room Continental faces the sea on one side and the north end of Galle Face Green on another. The rooms are very comfortable but tad on the small side"

Location
The five-star Ceylon Continental occupies a prime position at the quieter end of Galle Face Green, alongside the Indian Ocean and within walking distance of Colombo's main commercial area.
Introduction
Colombo's first five-star, the Ceylon Continental might lack the ambition of some of its grander rivals, but it offers keen prices and is repeatedly praised for its relaxed and intimate feel. Sri Lanka is famed for its geniality, and in our opinion the Ceylon Continental exemplifies it. Its warm welcome is striking for a city centre hotel and is one of the reasons why Red Dot values this well-appointed hotel so highly.

Facilities
The Ceylon Continental pool and sun-terrace is one of the most inviting in the capital. There is also a bar and lounge, with regular, if sometimes dubious, hotel bands, karaoke lounge, open-air pizzeria, seafood and Indian restaurants, 24-hour coffee shop, small business centre with Wi-Fi, beauty salon and hairdresser, and shops. The Indian restaurant is particularly well regarded.
Excursions
The Fort and Pettah, originally built in the sixteenth century by the Portuguese and then further developed by the Dutch and the British, today, is the main commercial hub consisting of the country's largest wholesale bazaar with a maze of by lanes and small shops; banks and government offices some which are housed in old colonial buildings; Dutch period churches and museum. The Crescat shopping mall nearby has several fast food outlets, a food court, and several shops. There are also several fine dining restaurants nearby.
