Location
Earl’s Regency is a five-star luxury hotel perched alongside the Mahaweli River, overlooked by the fringes of the Knuckles mountain range. Fifteen minutes north of Kandy town centre, in the village of Tennekumbura, Earl’s Regency provides a peaceful holiday experience away from the hustle and bustle of Kandy town, yet close enough to experience Kandy’s ancient cultural heritage. This is the closest five-star hotel to the picturesque Victoria Golf & Country Resort which is about 20 minutes away. The journey to Kandy from Colombo’s international airport will take about 3.5 hours.
Introduction
Earl’s Regency is spread over 16 acres of landscaped gardens and occupies a peaceful setting by the Mahaweli River. The hotel is designed with pagoda shaped roofs and a long overhead bridge that links together the main hotel wing and the new wing. The main hotel wing consists of the reception area, restaurant, bar and an executive floor with conference facility and executive suites. The new wing consists of the deluxe rooms, spa, and the garden restaurant. Earl’s Regency is an ideal family hotel with plenty to keep children entertained while adults relax by the poolside or rejuvenate with a massage at the Coco Spa. Earl’s Regency is managed by Aitken Spence Hotels which own several luxury hotels in Sri Lanka, Kerala, and the Maldives.

Accommodation
There are 104 well-appointed rooms and suites all with private balconies opening out to either mountain views or river views. Some of the rooms are located in the main hotel wing while the others are in the new wing. All rooms are furnished with double beds, writing desk, and couch. In room facilities includes a/c, overhead fan, satellite TV, IDD, internet, minibar, tea/coffee facility, in-room safe, hair dryer, 24-hr room service and laundry service. Ensuite bathrooms have h/w showers or bath tubs.

Deluxe Rooms: The 89 deluxe rooms are tastefully furnished and open out to a private balcony with scenic mountain views.

Premium Rooms: The six premium rooms are more spacious and include all the standard facilities. In addition, these rooms have a DVD player and library. Two of the premium suites are located on the executive floor in the main hotel wing closer to the restaurant.

Mini Suite Room: These three suite rooms are spacious and have a dining area and private balcony with river views. In addition to the standard facilities, there is also a DVD player, and special amenities such as bathrobe and bath slippers.

Natural Rock Junior Suite Rooms: Built around natural rock formations, these three suites are spacious and have a dining area and private balcony.

Mountbatten Suite: This is the most luxurious accommodation in the hotel and consists of a tastefully furnished bedroom, separate dining area, and private terrace.
Facilities
Aitken Spence hotels are well regarded for their sumptuous cuisine and Earl’s Regency carries through with this tradition serving an array of Sri Lankan and international dishes prepared with fresh produce purchased locally. The Far Pavilion restaurant serves international buffets while the Coffee Shop restaurant serves light snacks. There are several bars serving a variety of alcoholic beverages. The international Coco Spa chain runs the spa here with experienced Balinese therapists and offers a range of rejuvenating massages, body scrubs, and beauty treatments. The swimming pool located by the spa, meanders around with one corner built for children to wade around in. There is a separate play area for children and a baby sitting service with prior notice. Other hotel facilities include a floodlit tennis court, squash courts, badminton, gymnasium, cycling (mountain bikes available), table tennis, billiards/snooker, shopping arcade, and evening entertainment including traditional Kandyan dance performances. There is also an in-house naturalist who takes guest on nature trails, trekking, and bird watching.
Excursions
Explore the surrounding village or go trekking, bird watching or cycling. The city of Kandy, just 30 minutes away is steeped in history and culture. Interesting activities include a visit to the Temple of the Tooth where a sacred tooth relic of the Lord Buddha is enshrined; the ancient temples of Lankathillake, Gadaladeniya and Embekke, Peradeniya Botanical gardens with its orchid collection and acres of landscaped gardens, Kandy’s rich ancient arts and crafts including drum making, Dumbara mat waving, and crafting Kandyan jewelry, and traditional Kandyan dance and drumming. Earl’s Regency is just 20 minutes away from the picturesque Victoria Golf & Country Resort which has won many accolades including ‘Best Course in Asia 2005’ by Asian Golf monthly and ranked in ‘Top 100 Most Beautiful courses in the World,’ by Golfers Digest. The Resort consists of an 18-hole golf course, Putting green and practice range, PGA golf academy and numerous sports and recreational facilities for adults and children alike.
