Location
Max Wadiya is a five-bedroomed boutique hotel in two separate villas set amidst extensive gardens on a beautiful stretch of sandy beach in Ambalangoda on the West coast. This area is famous for its village folklore and mask making as well as the marine turtles that come to nest on the beach. The journey form Colombo’s International Airport will take approximately 1.5 hours via the southern highway.
Introduction
"Wadiya" means a beach clearing where fishermen come ashore with their catch, and Max Wadiya fits that description every morning when the simple catamarans come ashore on its sandy beach. This appealing property consists of two villas with a total of five bedrooms, set in an extensive garden scattered with coconut trees and overlooking the turquoise Indian Ocean. Interiors are infused with vibrant colours and comfortably furnished with Dutch period antiques. Rise leisurely and relax by the poolside or enjoy the sun and surf. By nightfall, dine under the stars at the edge of the sea. Max Wadiya can be booked by the room or in its entirety and welcomes families with children.

Max Wadiya follows a strict nature conservation philosophy and does much to protect the endangered Marine Turtles that occasionally come ashore to nest. The villa owners have built a raised hatchery surrounded by wire mesh to protect against monsoon rains and seek to increase survival rates. Max Wadiya is also increasingly moving towards a Green Environment with solar-heated water, a water harvesting system and its own herbal and fruit gardens. Whenever possible, fresh produce is organically grown.

Max Wadiya closes annually from May 15 to July 15 due to the monsoon rains.
