Sri Lanka Tours Day 1, 2 & 3Upon arriving in Sri Lanka, transfer directly to the Garden Beach hotel in Kosgoda, a small fishing village on the south west coast where you will stay three nights relaxing on the beach. Visit Kosgoda’s Marine Turtle hatchery – a valuable conservation project that protects the endangered Marine Turtles of Sri Lanka. Globally, all seven species of marine turtles existing are endangered. Out of these seven, five species of sea turtles come ashore to nest in Sri Lanka. The process of marine turtles nesting, hatchlings being born, and swimming back to sea is an ancient and phenomenal ritual that is fascinating to observe. Visit Lunuganga, a garden retreat that was originally an old rubber plantation that Geoffrey Bawa, Sri Lanka’s most famous architect, transformed into a haven of peace.

Sri Lanka Tours Day 4, 5, 6 & 7Today you journey along the beautiful south coast to the fishing village of Tangalle with secluded cove-like beaches and turquoise waters. Relax and enjoy four nights at Mangrove Garden set on a beautiful secluded beach. Go on a ferry ride along the lagoon where numerous species of waterbirds can be spotted along the mangroves. Visit Rakuwa, a small fishing village situated a short walk along the beach where a fascinating Marine Turtle Conservation project is helping to save this endangered species. Visit the ancient Mulkirigala temple or the Wewurukannala Temple with its massive 165ft high Buddha statue. Other attractions nearby, include Yala National Park, one of the largest national parks in the island where elephant and leopard can be seen, a short 90-minute drive away. The Bundala Bird Sanctuary is located 45 minutes away.

Sri Lanka Tours Day 8, 9, 10 & 11Head back along the south coast to Mirissa where you will stay four nights at The Palace, a cabana-style guesthouse located high up on a headland with sweeping views of Mirissa’s golden beaches. Scuba diving is immensely rewarding in Sri Lanka and some of the country's best dive spots are off the southern coast. Spotting bright corals and exotic fish is easy and there is the opportunity to go both cave diving and wreck diving. Based at Mirissa Harbour, Mirissa Water Sports offers exciting water sports activities such as sailing, fishing, coastal cruises, river trips, sea kayaking, snorkeling and boating activities. The south of Sri Lanka beyond Dondra is considered one of the best locations in the world for spotting Blue Whales, Sperm Whales and Spinner Dolphins. These gigantic marine mammals can be spotted in the deep seas off the southern coastal towns of Galle, Mirissa and Kirinda. Whale watching excursions into the deep seas is organised by Mirissa Water Sports during the season from December to April when the seas are calm. Visit Galle’s 17th century Dutch Fort, a UNESCO-protected World Heritage site and a melting pot of cultural influences. Much of the old Fort, a small walled city with about 300 homes and an old-world feel, still remain with its well preserved bastions, public buildings, churches, lighthouse and a maze of narrow streets. Several hours can be spent wandering through the narrow streets and along the ramparts, browsing through art galleries and sipping lime sodas on the verandah of Galle Fort hotel.

Sri Lanka Tours Day 12 & 13Journey along the coast to the capital city of Colombo for your final two nights stay at the Galle Face Hotel. This is an ideal base from which to explore Colombo including its Colonial history during the Portuguese, Dutch and the British periods in Sri Lanka. Interesting sites include the Fort and Pettah, the capital’s largest bazaar, several old Dutch churches, the National Museum and the Dutch Museum. The capital is also famous for its shopping, especially Paradise Road, Barefoot and Odels. Golfers will enjoy the Royal Colombo Golf Club, a short 20 minute drive.
