Sri Lanka Tours Day 2 to 7Travel to the north central region to Ulpotha, one of Sri Lanka’s greatest secrets, a Yoga-focused eco-retreat, hidden away in the heart of the Cultural Triangle close to Anuradhapura. Stay six peaceful nights and enjoy the serenity and beauty of this remarkable rural hideout, a retreat that was first conceived as an escape for its nature-loving owners. Yoga sessions are conducted in an open sided building with a thatched roof or in the cool shade of a Banyan tree. Ayurveda, an ancient form of healing and well being practiced in Sri Lanka, is also a specialty at Uplotha. You have the option of consulting Ulpotha's resident Ayurvedic specialist who will draw up a personalized relaxation and rejuvenation treatment programme. Thereafter, the daily therapies – which may include oil applications, massage, steam and medicinal bath therapies – will continue to be complemented by a special diet, also recommended by the doctor. Visit the ancient historical sites of the Cultural Triangle: Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka’s first capital and once the greatest monastic city of the ancient world; the ruined capital of Polonnaruwa; the lion rock of Mount Sigiriya; and Dambulla’s Buddhist Cave Temples.
Sri Lanka Accomodation Ulpotha

Sri Lanka Tours Day 8 & 9Today you journey to Sri Lanka's hill capital, the small lakeside city of Kandy, and check into the Kandy House a beautiful and stylishly renovated old colonial mansion located away from the town centre, but close enough to use as a base for seeing Kandy’s most memorable sights. In the evening visit the Temple of the Tooth where a sacred tooth relic of the Lord Buddha is enshrined since 4th Century A.D. The temple has decorative walls, a golden roof and fine woodwork. Religious services (pooja) are held daily at dawn, mid-day, and in the evening where guests can articipate. The services are accompanied with traditional music and drumming. Other activities can include a visit to the Peradeniya Botanical gardens, with its orchid collection and formally laid-out trees; nature walks in Udawatte Kelle Forest Reserve; and Kandy’s rich ancient arts and crafts including drum making, Dumbara mat waving, and crafting Kandyan jewelry, and traditional Kandyan dance and drumming.

The Kandy House is a brilliant small boutique hotel capable of offering stylish and private accommodation, personal service, and delicious food - all in a stunningly beautiful natural setting. This typical walauwa’, or manor house , has been refurbished to blend the old with the new- light white interiors, polished hardwood floorboards, Jack wood staircase, Dutch style antique furniture and careful injections of colour. Sri Lanka Tours Day 10 to 14Travel to the south coast fishing village of Unawatuna, just minutes away from the historic town of Galle. Check into the Secret Garden located a short stroll away from the beautiful bay of Unawatuna, a tranquil guesthouse that offers daily yoga classes in its tropical gardens. We recommend a visit to Galle’s 17th century Dutch Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Much of the old Fort, a small walled city with about 300 homes and an old-world feel, still remain with its well preserved bastions, public buildings, churches, lighthouse and a maze of narrow streets. High on the headland of Unawatuna Bay is Rhumassala Temple. With beautiful views stretching out over the Indian Ocean, a walk around the headland near the temple is very special. Famed for the natural medicinal herbs nearby you will walk through hidden villages and verdant wooded valleys eventually finding yourself on “Jungle Beach”- a little known and secluded beach.
