Media Review
Lonely Planet , Jan 2009
'Perched on the edge of a working tea plantation and spice garden, this luxury hotel still makes room for an idiosyncratic six-hole golf course, a well-stocked fish pond and a tennis court. After an essential twilight massage, look forward to another stunning walk in the surrounding hills the following day.'
Gavin Thomas, Rough Guide to Sri Lanka, Second Edition , Nov 2006
'One of the most spectacularly located hotels in Sri Lanka, perched way up in the hills on the western edge of the Knuckles Ranges, a bumpy hour’s drive from Kandy. There’s a strong eco-tourism focus, with walks let by expert resident naturalists into the stunning surrounding countryside, and it’s all surprisingly luxurious, despite the wild setting and relatively modest price tag…'
Melanie Brehaut, Travel Sri Lanka, Vol 3 No 7
'Diversity and relaxation are two words that readily spring to mind when reflecting on a visit to the Hunnas Fall Hotel near Kandy. Set among striking surroundings, the hotel offers everything from romance to the opportunity for a real rest away from it all, a more action-oriented break, or indeed any combination of all these. The beauty of the setting of this hotel is easily underestimated unit you visit. Winding up and up through the neighbouring tea plantations, one arrives passing a lush mini-golf course, sweeping views to the Matale valley below, and a small lake reflecting the mountains and expansive gardens. It is difficult to decide which view to take in first or longest'
Customer Feedback
Oct 20, 2011 : Place was a little tired and needed some attention. Staff wouldn't let us take pool towels to waterfall.
PM, Australia
Aug 10, 2009 : Such a gorgeous location but feel this hotel need some updating. Unfortunately it was very quiet when we stayed, much of the food and wine on the a la carte menu was unavailable and the buffet dinner / breakfast was poor we felt.
DB, London
Jul 28, 2009 : Fantastic Location. Excellent room service
RM, Edinburgh
Aug 27, 2008 : Amazing location.. Enjoyed the walks with the naturalist. Only downside is the long drive up to the hotel.
KG, Nottingham, UK
Jun 07, 2007 : However the road to the hotel was in awful condition, definitely worth the view!
JM, New Haven, USA
Apr 21, 2007 : Again, what a setting! The hotel is a bit tired but the staff covers it up with first-class service.
LU, Doha
Feb 14, 2007 : Although the hotel needs a little care and attention, this was outweighed by the fantastic location. We couldn't want a better place for spotting birds and butterflies. The naturalist here is excellent
