Rough Guide to Sri Lanka, Second Edition, , Nov 2006
Superb new boutique guest house, twenty minutes drive from central Kandy and set in a rambling colonial-era villa amidst verdant spice plantations. Rooms are furnished with antique Dutch furniture, four-poster beds, Victorian bathtubs and colourful contemporary silk and cotton fabrics, and surrounded by gorgeous landscaped gardens full of fruit trees running down to an infinity swimming pool
Customer Feedback
Nov 21, 2011 : Nice location, very accommodating service, rooms very comfortable.
CB – Robertson Quay, Singapore
Sep 02, 2009 : Nice place. We had a great room, but other rooms seemed to be quite dark. Nice garden and pool, but location of hotel was bit too far outside of Kandy. No problem for 1 or 2 nights, but not if you want to stay longer

Sep 02, 2009 : A superb boutique hotel with extremely high standards of service.
-- JH – Merseyside
Sep 02, 2009 : A great camp with great service and perfect location. Mosquito nets should have been set over the beds. Mosquitoes were not a big problem but nets would have been re assuring. The guide and the eco team were very knowledgeable and friendly.

Jul 28, 2008 : The setting is great. Bit far from Kandy though, only had one night here, but would like to stay 2 or 3 nights and relax.
DW – London,
Jul 15, 2008 : Wonderful house and beautifully decorated. Friendly management. Beautiful varandahs!! Room was little small due to the addition of bath. Not enough choice on menu.
DB – Suffolk,
Jun 25, 2008 : Amazing place with lovely staff.
SW – Kingston
Mar 31, 2008 : Disappointing – low point of the holiday. Promised a super deluxe room – a gallery suite, which we did not get and given a dark room with no bathtub, separated from the main house. Food was poor.
GD – Cambridgeshire
Mar 22, 2008 : I would like to mention how fantastic the service was at the hotel. The staff did not interfere at all. They did not seem like they were waiting for a tip every time they did something [E.g.: bags arrived in the room before we did. Beds were turned down while we were out of the room. All these made our stay so much more pleasant.
BG – Derbyshire
Mar 13, 2008 : Fabulous residence & beautiful pool.
JC-Essex
Mar 04, 2008 : Lovely place. Gorgeous room. Enjoyed my stay. Had a problem with a leaking toilet, but staff fixed it. Otherwise an enjoyable stay although would have preferred if they told me that Yoga would cost me Rs. 3000 before adding it to my bill and suspect I was charged for drinks which didn’t have. No real complaints though.
DJ – Bucks
Dec 09, 2007 : This hotel is great in so many ways. Its failure to achieve top marks is due only to the noise which [due to bare floorboards] travels easily from room to room.
RA – Berks
Oct 16, 2007 : What a unique experience. Beautiful boutique hotel and the level of service was first class. We didn't imagine it could get much better than that... until we got to Tea Trails.
KS – London,
Sep 29, 2007 : [Top marks] It would have been nice to have a door on the toilet. Modern design brings a whole new meaning to togetherness!
BV – Kent,
Sep 22, 2007 : Room was beautiful, as was the food, setting and service. Wish we had stayed more than one night.
NH – Twickenham,
Aug 26, 2007 : Disappointed compared to information provided. Room was dark with no a/c.
CH – Surrey,
Aug 24, 2007 : The Kandy House is beautiful, so restful and comfortable with beautiful gardens and a pool. The only drawback was the lack of a/c in the room. The food was fantastic and Ashleigh was a wonderful hostess.
JE – Bishop Auckland,
Aug 14, 2007 : An oasis; unforgettable experience. Will definitely return. Mixed views on food.
DW – Worcester,
Apr 07, 2007 : Location should be highlighted: a long way to the centre of Kandy.
KR – Sheffield
Apr 07, 2007 : A truly beautiful place. They made us a home away from home.
BH – Leeds
Mar 08, 2007 : What a pity a beautiful old house has had a brutalised concrete style imposed upon it -- in particular the slippery bathroom floor with very uncomfortable concrete bath and the bare concrete staircases with no handrail.
SP – Stoke
Feb 12, 2007 : A lovely hotel, right in the jungle.
MT – Woking
Feb 09, 2007 : Again, above expectation. A wonderful retreat from the hustle and
PS – Northants
Dec 23, 2006 : The Kandy House was our absolute favourite hotel. We just loved it and would definitely want to go back.
