The Coast

Not just golden beaches and turquoise seas, the coastal region is home to the spectacular Galle Stadium, vibrant resorts and inspiring charity projects.

Royal Beach, Induruwa
This is a good value hotel that makes up for any limitations with an abundance of character. It is a small enough property for a group to have it to themselves, while there is plenty of communal space in which to relax as a team. Royal Beach is half way between Colombo and Galle, therefore convenient for matches at Panadura or Galle Stadium. The inspirational Foundation for Goodness is also close by.

Cinnamon Gardens, Hikkaduwa
Located on the Hikkaduwa strip, Cinnamon is a great hotel option for those wanting comfortable accommodation at a low cost. The hotel is amongst the palm tree fringe of Hikkuduwa beach and there is also a pleasant garden you can relax in or even play some cricket. There are 12 ensuite rooms, so a tour party could have the place to themselves.
2 ½ hours from Colombo and close to Galle.

Unawatuna Beach Resort, Unawatana
Located on a beautiful beach with a vibrant party scene, Unawatuna Beach Resort is a good value and popular hotel. The rooms are not luxurious but there is a swimming pool. All along the beach are lively bars and cafes serving cold beer and fresh seafood. The resort is well placed for games at Galle and the south coast venue of Matara

Dickwella Resort, Dickwella
Perched on a southern coast headland, Dickwella Resort has a privileged position surrounded by gorgeous beaches and warm seas. Dickwella is convenient for matches at Matara and serves as good staging post if planning a safari at Yala or Uda Walawe. With great facilities and touches of luxury, this would be a great option for a club tour.

South Coast and Safari – A highlight to any cricket tour would be a safari in one of Sri Lanka’s stunning national parks. For leopards and elephants, Red Dot suggests Yala.

Yala Village Hotel, Yala
A safari in Yala National Park is a popular addition to a tour. Due to the distances involved, a night near the park is required and Yala Village Hotel, with its swimming pool and good restaurant, is the most suitable chose for a touring group.
