Accommodation
Silver Package
Ceylon Continental
Sri
Lanka is famed for its geniality, and the Ceylon Continental
exemplifies it. Its warm welcome is striking for a 5-star city
centre hotel – and that matters. Restaurants are passable;
value for money outstanding.
Eden Resort & Spa, Beruwela
The
refurbished Eden Hotel is unashamedly traditional, but it remains
one of the finer hotels on the west coast. It bravely strives
for a sense of grandeur, but its huge swimming pool and sandy
beach are the main attractions for many.
Eco Team - Luxury
Safari Camp
Eco
Team one of the premier wildlife companies in the island, now
offers luxury camping inside a range of national parks, including
Yala, Uda Walalwe, Wasgomuwa and Sinharaja Rainforest. The campsites
are set up in excellent locations nearby rivers under clear
blue skies where, after an adventurous safari, you can rest
and relax amidst the sound of birdcalls.
Rafters Retreat, Kithulgala
The
Rafter’s Retreat is an ecologically-themed riverside retreat.
There are 14 rooms, 11 of which are individually-designed eco
lodges. You can even sleep in a tree house after a day’s
trekking or rafting. Basic comforts for the active.
Hikkaduwa Beach Hotel
The
hotel has undergone a recent refurbishment and now offers comfortable
accommodation for those enjoying the Hikkaduwa strip. The rooms
are bright, well fitted and air conditioned. There is the added
bonus of an outdoor swimming pool making the Hikkaduwa Beach
Hotel a good value choice among those staying in the region.
Or Insight
A
few kilometres along the coast road from Unawatuna is Insight,
a simplistic but charming hotel. The 33 rooms are clean and
comfortable and the atmosphere relaxed. The hanger-roofed restaurant
and bar areas are airy and open, the food is perfectly sound
without being spectacular, the beachside swimming pool is a
decent size, and the sandy tropical beach and collection of
stilt fisherman are a stunning backdrop.
Upper Glencairn, Hill-country
The
bungalow is a colonial estate property set amongst tea plantations
with a view of Adams Peak, and provides an ideal base for travellers
climbing Adams Peak and is often used the night before or the
morning after the climb.
Bronze Package
Colombo City Hotel
The traveller on a budget will be particularly attracted by
the convenience and value of the Colombo City Hotel. This small,
new hotel offers modern rooms at an appealing price directly
opposite the World Trade Centre in Colombo’s city centre.

Sunils Guest House A
well located and maintained small hotel with a great swimming
pool. Sunils spends most of the year catering for the German
market but it is a hotel that all will enjoy, whether a family
or bunch of surfers. The rooms are basic but spacious and provide
great value. All are ensuite with sea views and air conditioning.
Or Cinnamon Gardens Enthusiastic
English owners have brought a bright and sociable feel to an
old colonial beachfront property. This small independent hotel
has a great location and offers an unfussy and relaxed base
in one of Sri Lanka’s livelier coastal villages.
Kitulgala Rest House, Kitulgala
Kitugala
Resthouse boasts a magnificent location overlooking the wide
Kelani River as it carves its way from the Highlands through
lush, rolling hills. A basic property with a colonial air, orgininally
built for travelling colonial administrators.
