 The
Hill Club has one of the finest settings in Nuwara
Eliya. This timber-and-stone mansion house has a
sense of colonial grandeur that pervades every aspect
of the Hill Club, from its green, manicured lawns
to its men-only bar, log fires and its insistence
that gentlemen wear jacket and tie for dinner. The
rooms are ensuite, most with large bath, have wireless

The
Glendower Hotel is an appealing option for those
seeking good value in the hill-country town of Nuwara
Eliya. An unprepossessing but welcoming hotel, next
to the golf course.
St
Andrew's Hotel lies slightly above the centre of
Nuwara Eliya, alongside the golf course. Within
this stately Tudor-style colonial mansion is a world
of open fires, candlelit dinners and a well-stocked
wine cellar. Many of the 52 rooms, including 12
suites or family rooms, have quaint period furniture.
All have attached bathrooms. Each room offers a
view of the distant mountains and lush vegetation-clad
hills.
The
Tea Factory lies, alone and unique, on the slopes
of the tea plantations high above the hill-country
town of Nuwara Eliya. It was once exactly as it
claims - a tea factory built in the 1930s –
and is now the finest hotel in the highlands. The
Tea Factory has been lovingly and tastefully restored:
reception was once the drier room, the sifting and
packing rooms now house a highly-recommended restaurant
and bar and the Tea Factory's fine-dining restaurant
is in a restored railway carriage.
