Sri Lankan government revives Tourist Police Division
The Ministry of Tourism, the Sri Lanka Tourist
Board and the Police Department came together in June
2007 to reestablish the Tourist Police Division which
will exclusively service the tourism sector in Sri Lanka.
This joint effort is aimed at improving law and order
and ensuring all in-bound and out-bound local and foreign
tourists a hassle-free and enjoyable holiday in Sri
Lanka. For any form of crime related situations, harassment,
or other emergencies contact the Tourist Police post
closest to your holiday destination. The head office
of the Tourist Police is located at the premises of
the Sri Lanka Tourist Board in Colombo with police posts
in the following holiday destinations across the island
which are supervised by the local Police stations in
each town.
