Our ‘Sri Lanka Elephant Pilgrimage’ has been designed for nature-loving families. The elephant, a mammal that has been an important part of Sri Lanka’s culture and ecology for thousands of years (10% of the world’s elephant population is concentrated in this small island), provides the central focus of the holiday, but there is plenty more packed in beside, including exploration of the island’s rich history, stays in the tea-growing hills and on the palm-fringed south coast. As usual with Red Dot holidays, if required, we can modify this itinerary and use different hotels to better suit the specific needs and interests of your family.

This ‘Family Adventurer’ is a beach, activity and wildlife-themed tour of Sri Lanka. We have designed a special holiday that allows families to experience real Sri Lanka, pockets of the island that are unscarred by ugly package-style tourist development. We have carefully selected high-quality accommodation with character and also sufficient activities to keep the children entertained. In particular, we wanted to show-off the beautiful south coast, the serene and tranquil rural areas inland and the glorious tea-country. This is therefore not one of those hectic always-driving island tours. Instead, we have concentrated on the south, which has so much to appeal. The holiday aims to strike a balance between the need to relax and unwind, but also to provide an opportunity for sufficient activities to keep children and adults entertained.

This ‘Children’s Explorer’ is suitable for families with young children who will enjoy fun-filled activities along with a glimpse into Sri Lanka’s cultural heritage, its wildlife and ecology. The 'Island Getaway' is an hurried Sri Lanka holiday offering three stops in a trio of fabulous villas and bungalows, all set in spectacular natural locations – by the edge of a lake in the suburbs of Colombo, perched on a mountain amidst lush tea plantations and on the south coast where the turquoise blue waters of the Indian Ocean offer complete relaxation. The holiday has been specifically designed for couples and small families, and it will appeal most to those people that like small and personal properties in beautiful landscapes. All the properties – java Moon, Tea Trails and Lansiya – are also renowned for their friendly staff and delicious food.
