Red Dot is offering a small selection of carefully tailored package and group tours for couples, families and small groups of friends. The trips tend to focus on specific events – for example, the spectacular annual Esala Perahara (street pageant or parade) in Kandy or the Galle Literary Festival – but we also offer Yoga-focused and Ayurveda packages as well as our popular Guesthouse Explorer and some adventure-based trips. The holidays all leave on scheduled dates. You will be using shared transfers in-between hotels and for excursions, but the maximum vehicle size is just eight people per mini-van. If you would like to have you own vehicle this can be arranged for a small surcharge.
| Sri Lanka Guesthouse Explorer -Tour 1 |
The ‘Sri Lanka Guesthouse Explorer’ includes the best that Sri Lanka can offer – ancient cities, tea-growing hills, wildlife parks and Indian Ocean beaches. August is the month of the `Esala Perehara’ in Kandy. This historic annual procession is one of the finest festivals in Asia. This is a time when tradition, religion, and the arts all come together in honour of Lord Buddha. For ten nights under the moonlit sky, Kandy dazzles. Musicians, dancers, Kandyan chieftains and hundreds of elephants dressed in glittering royal finery move to the rhythm of the Kandyan drums. Reels of white carpet are laid on the roads for one special elephant, the temple tusker that bears the tooth relic of Lord Buddha encased in a golden casket. We have selected properties with scenic locations and friendly staff for this journey. This is a fixed departure trip, leaving the UK on 13 July, which includes shared transfers. The group size has been kept small – no more than six people per mini-van – to guarantee comfort and flexibility. Direct flights with SriLankan Airlines are included in the package price.
