Sri Lankan Airlines resumed its popular Air Taxi service in mid-December 2010. The Air Taxi offers both scheduled daily services to select locations, primarily along the south coast, as well as a private charter service to a wide range of island-wide destinations. The scheduled south coast flights often connect well with SriLankan Airlines’ major international flights. The company operates under certificates issued by Sri Lanka’s Civil Aviation Authority.


Sri Lankan Airlines usesSri Lankan Airlines uses a 15-seater float plane for its Air Taxi service. Connections are available between several holiday destinations including Ampara, Bentota, Colombo, Dambulla, Dickwella, Kandy (Victoria and Polgolla), Koggala, Nuwara Eliya, and Tissamaharama. In addition to a scheduled transfer service, the Air Taxi can be chartered for scenic tours that give a bird’s eye view of this beautiful tropical island.

Be aware that flights are only confirmed upon full payment and that the cancellation terms are stringent. Tickets are not required for internal flights. Baggage allowance on the Air Taxi is 27 kgs per passenger inclusive of hand baggage. For international travellers, baggage checked-in on Sri Lankan Airlines international flights will be permitted fore carriage on the Air Taxi. Please check with your consultant further regarding baggage limitations. In some cases Red Dot will organise a baggage vehicle to deliver your luggage by road to your hotel.

Flights are available between 7.00 am and finish at 5.30pm – basically, daylight hours in Sri Lanka. The maximum capacity of the Air Taxi is fifteen passengers. Payment must be paid in advance to confirm the flight and the price – which fluctuates according to market fuel prices. Cancellation charges are as follows:
 

• 25 % cancellation charge up to 72 hours before departure time
• 50 % cancellation charge between 72 and 24 hours before departure time.
• No refund is possible in case of cancelation less than 24 hours before scheduled departure. However, no cancellation charge will be applicable in case you desire an advancement or postponement of flight, subject to availability of aircraft.

Sri Lankan Airlines reserves the right to delay, extend, reschedule or cancel a flight for operational reasons - bad weather, VIP movements or other similar situations beyond the immediate control of the carrier.
