Location
Angsana Ihuru is a stylish, eco-friendly holiday retreat located on its own small circular tropical island on North Malé Atoll. The island is blessed with palm-fringed beaches, clear ocean waters and a wonderful house reef known amongst divers to be the best in the Maldives where over 140 species of fish and multi-colored coral gardens can be seen. Angsana Ihuru is conveniently situated just a 20 minute speedboat ride away from the International Airport.
Introduction
Angsana are renowned for their award-winning Asian spa retreats located in India, Australia, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and the Maldives. Angsana Ihuru pride themselves on their stylish accommodation, excellent spa facilities as well as their environmental conservation efforts. The hotel won the very first `Maldivian Environment Preservation Award’ in 1996 as well as the `President of the Maldives Green Resort Award’ in 2002 and is the driving force behind several outstanding marine biology research initiatives. Accommodation here is in luxurious villas all with beach frontage and spectacular views of the Indian Ocean. Although modern facilities are provided in the villas, utmost care is taken to maintain mind and body wellness and ensure the resort remains environmentally friendly. Angsana Isuru is ideal for an intimate wedding or a romantic honeymoon.
Accommodation
There are 45 villas – Beach Front Villas and Deluxe Beach Front villas scattered along the circumference of this exotic tropical island opening directly on to the beach. The villas are designed with conical thatched roofs and consist of a bedroom opening out to a verandah with dining and sitting area; private garden with sun loungers and a Maldivian swing; and ensuite bathrooms with open air h/w showers. The interiors are minimalist and highlighted in Angsana’s signature colours of lime green, tangerine and yellow. All villas have a/c, overhead fans, mini-bar, tea/coffee facility, IDD, and electronic safe. Televisions are not available in the villas. The 20 Deluxe Beach Front Villas are also equipped with open-air jet pools where you can indulge in a bubble bath under a starlit sky.
Facilities
'Riveli' restaurant offers a combination of Maldivian, Asian & Mediterranean flavours which you can enjoy on the wooden deck overlooking the turquoise waters. 'The Velaavani Bar' located on the waterfront by the lagoon and house reef, offers exotic cocktails with snacks all day long. Private dining either in the privacy of your own villa, at a sheltered sandbank, or even on the hotel's glass bottom boat can be arranged. A cooking school is also available. The Angsana Spa offers a range of relaxing massages and therapies using natural ingredients including native flowers and fruits. Other hotel facilities include scuba diving, snorkelling, windsurfing, catamaran sailing, parasailing, canoeing, water skiing, wake boarding, glass-bottom boat rental and banana boat riding.
Excursions
Angsana Ihuru’s almost perfectly round coral reef is a snorkeller’s dream with coral gardens and over 140 species of fish inhabiting these waters. The hotel is well recognised for efforts in marine conservation and has several marine biology research initiatives and holds regular marine biology classes. Guests can be a part of this effort and join in on an adventurous underwater excursion to explore and learn of the diverse eco-systems surrounding the island. Other adventurous excursions include island hopping, night fishing, and a tour of the country’s capital city, Male.
