Day 1Upon arriving in Sri Lanka, transfer to The Wallawwa, a newly opened 14-bedroom boutique hotel located just 10 minutes from the International Airport. Day 2 & 3Travel to The Cultural Triangle village of Sigiriya where you will stay two nights at Vil Uyana, a brand new boutique hotel situated just minutes away from the magnificent Sigiriya rock fortress. Explore Sri Lanka's ancient kingdom of Polonnaruwa, the lion rock of Sigiriya and Dambulla’s Buddhist Cave Temples, all UNESCO-protected World Heritage Sites. En route, you also have the option of visiting Yapahuwa, an ancient temple built on a rock described by the Insight Guide to Sri Lanka as "one of the great architectural wonders of the island”, and Aukana, where the Buddha stands 42 feet high, the best-preserved statue in Sri Lanka.

Day 4 & 5Today you journey to Sri Lanka's hill capital, the small lakeside city of Kandy, and check into the Kandy House, another beautifully renovated Wallawwa located away from the town centre, but close enough to use as a base for seeing Kandy’s most memorable sights. In the evening visit the Temple of the Tooth where a sacred tooth relic of the Lord Buddha is enshrined since 4th Century A.D. The temple has decorative walls, a golden roof and fine woodwork. Religious services (pooja) are held daily at dawn, mid-day, and in the evening where guests can participate. The services are accompanied with traditional music and drumming. Other activities can include: a visit to the Peradeniya Botanical gardens, with its orchid collection and formally laid-out trees; Kandy’s rich ancient arts and crafts including drum making, Dumbara mat waving, and crafting Kandyan jewelry; and traditional Kandyan dance and drumming.

Day 6 & 7Today you begin your journey to the central highlands with its tea-covered hills, gushing waterfalls and scenic beauty. Stay two nights at Ceylon Tea Trails, a wonderful collection of refurbished tea planter’s bungalows in the southwest corner of the hills, an area renowned for its fine tea and beautiful countryside. The following morning you might like to enjoy the “Tea experience”, which involves a visit a plantation to observe first hand the process, starting from the plucking field where it all begins with the picking of “two leaves and a bud” to the factory where the processing begins. The Tea Trails also provides an excellent base for a variety of adventure activities. There are a number of mountain bike trails that loop through the surrounding tea estates and guides are available on-demand. A number of treks and scenic walks are also available, including the famous pilgrimage site, Sri Pada, known as Adam’s Peak, which is a conical mountain 7,360 feet above sea level. This mountain is a pilgrimage site to thousands of devotees from many faiths. The climb is best attempted at night where you reach the mountaintop to see the sunrise and the awe-inspiring view from the top. It can be one of the most moving experiences in Sri Lanka.

Day 8Today you head back to the capital city of Colombo for your final night where you will be staying at Tintagel, another luxurious boutique hotel housed in one of Sri Lanka’s most famous ancestral residences belonging to the family of Sri Lanka’s former President. Experience Colombo’s colonial architecture with a visit to the Fort, a three mile long rampart originally built in the sixteenth century by the Portuguese and then further developed by the Dutch and the British. Here, many of the old colonial buildings jostle for attention with the rest of Colombo’s modern skyline.

Day 9 to 15Depart early in the morning for your flight to the Maldives and a seven night’s stay at the Angsana Resort & Spa Ihuru. Relax and unwind amidst swaying palms and sunkissed beaches. Several watersports are on offer here including snorkeling, scuba diving, windsurfing, catamaran sailing, and canoeing. Go on a sunset cruise or island hopping. Dine under the stars or in the privacy of your own romantic beach villa.
