Description
North Male’ Atoll, towards the centre of the Maldives string of atolls, is near to the capital city Malé, and Hulule International Airport. The islands in this atoll were the first to be developed in the 1970s for tourism. Scuba diving and surfing is rewarding in North Malé Atoll. Other than the resort islands, there are several small fishing islands including Thulusdhoo, Hura, Himmafushi, and Dhiffushi where local communities live. These islands can be visited on an island-hopping excursion where you can experience traditional Maldivian dance and drumming and shop for souvenirs made by the villagers.

Activities
Diving: North Malé Atoll is popular for diving and there are several dive sites with an array of exotic underwater marine life and colourful coral formations. Observe as schools of snapper, tuna, rays, and moray eels swim by. There are several dive sites including Helengeli Thila, Shark Point, Blue Canyon, Bodu Hithi Thila, Rasfari, Colosseim, Aquarium, just to name a few.
Island hopping: Explore some of the fishing villages in North Malé Atoll where local villages go about their daily lives. Enjoy traditional dance and drumming. Shop at some of the local souveniour shops on these islands and support the local cottage crafts.
