Sun Island is the largest island resort in the Maldives with 354 rooms set on its own island named Nalaguraidhoo which has plenty of natural vegetation surrounded by a turquoise lagoon, house reef and the Indian Ocean waters beyond. This value for money resort has plenty to do for all ages. Located on South Ari Atoll, Sun Island is accessed via a 35-minute seaplane ride. Transfer by speedboat will take up to 2.5 hours.
Sun Island offers comfortable rooms, plenty of activities on water and land and a welcoming and informal feel. With the Dhigurah Channel and Kudarah Thila ship wreck just a short distance away, Sun Island is a popular diving destination. Sun Island is for those wanting an action-packed beach holiday.

Rooms and bungalows at Sun Island are scattered through the island and hidden amidst the vegetation which provides for more seclusion. Interiors are modern and spacious. The standard in-room facilities include a/c, overhead fan, satellite TV, internet, safe, and ensuite bathrooms with h/w shower.

Water Bungalows: The 72 water bungalows, of which 4 are Presidential Suites, are well designed with a private sundeck and steps leading down to the lagoon.

Super Deluxe Rooms: There are 218 of these rooms and all are semi-detached with private verandahs. The ensuite bathrooms have bathtub and hw/s showers.

Deluxe Rooms: The 136 Deluxe rooms are slightly smaller than the super deluxe rooms and have ensuite bathrooms with h/w showers.
Sun Island has a full range of facilities including five restaurants and eleven bars scattered throughout the island. The diving school is a large and well equipped outfit that conducts PADI-certified courses and group diving and snorkelling excursions. Other facilities include a swimming pool, children’s pool, watersports centre offering jet skiing, water skiing, knee boarding, wind surfing, canoeing, catamaran rides, banana boating, and speed boats; fully-equipped gym, floodlit tennis courts, indoor squash and badminton courts, basketball, volleyball, bicycle rental, snooker, video games parlour; and a large spa offering a range of relaxing massages and beauty treatments.
Go on an early morning dolphin-watching excursions or on a fishing expedition. Enjoy feeding the stingrays at the jetty by nightfall. Sun Island offers big game fishing, sunrise and sunset fishing, and line trawling. Visit the nearby fishing island, Hagnaameedhoo where local communities live and work or the capital island of Ari Atoll, Rasdhu. Get to know the Maldivian people and their lifestyles. There are several craft workshops on these island where you can buy Maldivian souveniours made by the villagers. Visit the capital city, Malé for a taste of authentic Maldivian cuisine and a tour of the cultural sites.
