North Malé Atoll:
Resorts such as Soneva Gili by Six Senses, One and Only Reethi Rah, Four Seasons Kuda Hura have spas that are built over the water with the ocean breeze and spectacular scenery providing a perfect setting for a romantic escape coupled with mind and body wellness. Huvafen Fushi, owned by the renowned Per AQQUM Resorts & Spas, takes the spa concept even further with their underwater spa treatment rooms where you can watch schools of fish swim by as you indulge in spa treatments.
Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru’s in-house spa has been listed on TripAdvsor – 2010 Readers Awards list of `Top Ten Spas Worldwide’. Angsana Ihuru and Bandos which are mid-range properties also offer a good range of spa treatments. Most of the resort spas offer a mix of Aromatherapy, Ayurveda, Thai and Balinese massages and beauty treatments providing complete rejuvenation of mind and body. Some resorts also have an in-house yoga master that conducts private yoga sessions.
South Malé Atoll:
There are several exquisite spa resorts in South Male Atoll with some providing mind and body wellness through a combination of relaxing massages, yoga and meditation. The Jiva Grand Spa at Taj Exotica has an authentic Indian Ayurvedic spa that combines all these ancient healing philosophies amidst tranquil surroundings. Ari Atoll:
The super luxury boutique resort Conrad Maldives Rangali, has a separate tranquil Spa Island with its own exquisite spa water villas built over the lagoon. Here, rejuvenating spa treatments are done right in your own villa.
W Retreat & spa has a magnificent spa which is an architectural delight and offers spa treatments as well as yoga and other wellness programmes. The luxurious Banyan Tree Madivaru offers a novel concept of African style tented villas blended with pampered tropical island living. Here, the spa comes to you and transforms your private living space into a tranquil in-house spa overlooking the turquoise ocean.
Northern Atolls:
The Four Seasons Landa Giraavaru has an exquisite over water spa, which is essentially a self-contained retreat within the main resort and is spread over a 2.5 acre area. There is an Aromatherapy section and a separate Ayurvedic wellness centre here staffed by Indian therapists.
The tranquil Six Senses spa at Soneva Fushi featuring water walls and soothing aromas, offers a range of Six Senses signature massages and beauty treatments. The self-contained Ayurveda Village at Adaaran Select Meedhupparu offers comprehensive curative and rejuvenating Ayurvedic wellness therapies that are supervised by an experienced Sri Lankan Ayurvedic physician. The Ayurveda Village has its own accommodation and an Ayurvedic restaurant serving nutritious meals that supplements the therapy programmes. Most of these resorts also conduct Yoga, Taichi, and guided meditation sessions to achieve complete mind and body wellness.
Southern Atolls:
All three resorts promoted by Red Dot have in-house spas offering relaxing massages and beauty treatments. The Shangri-La’s Chi Spa set over an area of four acres, takes spa pampering to another level and taps on ancient Chinese, Himalayan, and Asian mind and body wellness philosophies. Private yoga and meditation sessions are offered here to supplement the mind and body wellness programmes.
