Introduction
One of several 'CGH Earth' properties across Kerala owned by the Dominic family, Marari Beach Resort is a fine example of their vision of providing guests an authentic experience of the surrounding location, it’s culture and heritage, connecting with nature, ecology and the surrounding community. `We have discovered ourselves through nature…learnt that less is more…that luxury lies in simplicity…that reality is more enchanting than fantasy and that magic lies in what you already have’ – a deep rooted philosophy of the CGH that resonates throughout each and every one of their hotel properties, including Marari Beach Hotel. Sleep in a palm thatched cottage modeled after the homes of the fisherman of Mararikulum, relax on the white sandy beaches of Mararikulum, walk through the winding pathways past lotus filled ponds and butterfly gardens, immerse yourself in the ancient healing wisdom of Ayurveda or create a balance of mind and body with Yoga in a simple hut by the sea. At Marari Beach Resort, the essence of Kerala is all around – give in and let yourself go.

Accommodation
52 individual cottages with palm thatched roofs designed to reflect the homes of rural fisherman, are scattered amidst lush tropical gardens, meandering pathways and waterways. The roofs are maintained and thatched each year by villagers from the surrounding community providing them with much needed employment. Each cottage is about 400 sq. ft. and consists of a small lounge area, bedroom, private sit out, and ensuite open air bathroom with h/w shower. The rooms are comfortably furnished with twin or double beds and have coffee / tea making facility, and mini-bar. The open air bathroom with a small courtyard is landscaped with a fruit tree or frangipani and has natural toiletries including soaps and scrubs that invigorate your body. The Deluxe Villas are more spacious with a separate sitting area which can accommodate an additional two persons and is situated in its own enclosed gardens with a swimming pool.
Facilities
A large swimming pool with a sun terrace is located near the main restaurant. The open sided restaurant has a magical ambience with the warm glow of oil lamps and candles. Authentic Kerala cuisine, North Indian, and continental dishes are served at the restaurant prepared with fresh vegetables from their own gardens and fresh seafood brought to the doorstep daily by the local fisherman. For those keen on learning Kerala cuisine, the chef conducts daily cookery demonstrations. Soothing traditional music is performed at nights at the restaurant. A wonderful 200 year old building set in the garden, houses the bar and Club House at Marari Beach where a range of beverages are served amidst a colonial setting. The Ayurveda wellness centre offers traditional Kerala massages as well as curative treatments supervised by the in-house Ayurveda doctor. Yoga is conducted by a guru in an open sided hut by the sea. The extensive coconut grove leads to the sea which is perfect for swimming during the season. Recliners and hammocks are scattered in the gardens, and a beach bar serves up cool drinks. There is a small beach library filled with interesting titles for those wishing to laze about on the beach with a good book. If you have an interesting book that you would like to share, donate it to the beach library. The feeling here is that well written thoughts and stories are to be shared and passed on. CGH follows an eco-friendly philosophy and all their properties are considered `chemical-free’ zones. Organic farming, vermiculture and composting, use of black resin for pest control and lemon grass oil as airfreshners, and recycling of water is done at Marari Beach Resort. As a part of their efforts at community development and preserving nature, the Mararikulum villagers are educated on organics farming methods and their vegetables are purchased by the Resort providing a much needed income.
