Location
Situated on a five acre waterfront property, Lakesong is a newly built hotel that is designed along traditional lines and overlooking the serene backwaters of Kumarakom. The hotel is situated on an old coconut estate with internal waterways which were once used for irrigational purposes. These waterways are now used to transport guests in traditional boats from the Reception desk right upto their own hotel room. Located just 16 kms west of Kottayam, Kumarakom is an island surrounded by Kerala’s charming backwaters. The drive from Cochin International Airport is 85km and takes approximately two hours. The drive from Trivandrum International Airport is about 4.5 hours.
Introduction
Lakesong is a well equipped modern hotel using traditional design components with intricately carved lattice work, high ornate ceilings, gabled roofed structures, and un-plastered exterior brick walls that gives the hotel a natural feel. Ornate mythical sculptures hand crafted by traditional artists from Kerala, adorns the main reception area. A network of old irrigational waterways winds through the gardens scattered with coconut trees. All rooms open out to these waterway and the landscaped gardens beyond. The restaurant and the Ayurveda centre are situated at the edge of the property overlooking the serene Vembanad Lake.

Accommodation
Villas set on the banks of the network of internal waterways provide for comfortable accommodation at Lakesong. The villas are of three types - Vembanadu, Ashtamudi and Punnamada - based on their design styles. The 48 Vembanadu and Ashtamudi Villas are constructed using Laterite rocks. The 20 luxurious Punnamada Villas are constructed using interlocking brickworks. All villas are airconditioned and have a sitting area and ensuite bathroom with h/w shower. Other in-room facilities include cable TV, direct-dial phone and wi-fi facilities.
Facilities
The restaurant overlooks the scenic Vembanad Lake and serves a range of food including traditional Kerala cuisine, dishes from other parts of India, Continental, as well as Chinese cuisine. The Coffee Shop with wi-fi facilities, serves light meals throughout the day. Ayurkshethra – Lakesong’s Ayurveda centre housed in a heritage style structure, provides a range of traditional rejuvenating therapies as well as Yoga. A swimming pool is located by the restaurant. Other facilities include children’s play area, fully equipped gym, snooker, table tennis, badminton court, basketball, fishing, water games, boat rides, curio shop, and evening cultural programmes.
Excursions
Take a stroll through the resort complex upto the Vembanad Lake where numerous species of water birds can be spotted. Take a backwater cruise on a houseboat past rural villages and interesting sights including ancient temples and churches.
