The Sri Lanka Travel Specialists
La Canelle Cinnamon Plantation Villa is a simple yet appealing villa in the bend of a river on a small cinnamon plantation on Sri Lanka’s South Coast and just minutes away from the incredible beaches around Weligama. Designed by a local architect influenced by the Geoffrey Bawa style, in collaboration with its European owners, it offers a tempting and attractively-priced experience of tropical living in the interior with the beaches in very easy reach.
The villa is laid out to comfortably sleep 4 adults (with 2 separate single beds available). It has two large suites: the Planter’s Suite and the Cinnamon Suite. Both have air-con and ceiling fans, satellite TVs and mosquito nets. Good-quality linens bedeck the extra-large king size four-poster beds and each suite has a spacious en suite bathroom.
Simplicity is the watchword for La Canelle, which seeks to give an authentic experience of traditional Sri Lankan life whilst providing expected creature conforts. The villa’s common areas host a magnificent, solid hardwood table and chairs that bring elegance to the dining room. High speed WiFi is available throughout the house and a 15-metre swimming pool is ensconced in tropical foliage. BYO alcohol.
La Canelle has a small full-time staff to serve refreshment, cook for you, help with transportation, do laundry and provide information. They can also offer a cinnamon tour on the property.
La Canelle Sits in a bend of the Polwatta Ganga, only a mile from the beautiful bay of Weligama on Sri Lanka’s south coast.
