Dhigali

North Ari Atoll, Maldives
Luxury hotel banner
Dhigali occupies its own coral island in the tranquil, lesser-known Raa Atoll, just a 45-minute seaplane from Malé Airport. Verdant palm groves hide the eight bars and restaurants, spa, and swimming pool that make up this all-inclusive luxury resort.

180 bungalows and villas lie tucked along the beachfront, in the trees, or snaking over the water. Staying away from the traditional thatched roofs synonymous with the Maldives, Dhigali is all white, modern architecture with crisp, clean interiors that both feel youthful, and meet the hotel’s sustainability goals, requiring less energy to cool. For the adventurous types, you can drop the little ones at the Kids Club and hit the beach. From jet skis to parasailing, snorkelling to PADI-certified scuba diving, there are endless ways to experience these beautiful open waters.

If you’re lucky, you may even spot dolphins on one of the hotel’s regular cruises, or a squadron of manta rays as you plumb the wonders of the reef. Families have an array of restaurants to choose from, while honeymooners can treat themselves to a private dining experience. Discover local seafood cooked to perfection with Maldivian spices, or find comfort food from a selection of Western favourites. Both families and couples are welcome here, and you’ll find plenty on the menu whether you wish to switch off in a quiet corner or explore all that this island has to offer.

What we love

    • The resort has 180 luxurious rooms and villas, all bright and modern with calming views of either the island’s verdure or the vast ocean
    • There’s plenty of opportunity to stay fit and healthy while you enjoy your holiday, whether swimming in one of the three pools, hitting the gym, or diving into some water sports
    • Guests love the dolphin cruise and frequently commend the knowledge and warmth of the guides
    • The hotel offers 5-star PADI scuba diving experiences, and the island boasts nearly year-round opportunities to see manta rays at an array of dive sites
    • The hotel’s Kids Club allows you to relax knowing that your children are getting creative with arts & crafts or in the water play area, in an electronics-free space

There are relatively few dining options compared to other islands and their restaurants can sometimes fill up quickly, so make sure to reserve a table on the hotel’s app

The games area is slightly lacking, though if you love billiards and table tennis, you could still be busy for hours

The resort is slightly more geared more towards families than other retreats, which can sometimes make it a little noisy

The water villas run parallel to the seaplane’s landing strip, and flights sometimes take off early, so just keep this in mind if you like to sleep in

Families are welcome and there is a Kids Club (PLAY) that offers a range of activities for children to enjoy from arts & crafts to water slides
Dhigali work with many environmental initiatives including supporting local communities and preservation of indigenous flora and fauna.
Dhigali is a 45 minute sea plane transfer from Male International Airport

What our travellers say

We went to Sri Lanka as a three-generation family of three. The superb trip was organised by Samanthie and the team and it's difficult to see how it could have been bettered.

Red Dot organised the most wonderful 3-week holiday for us. Samanthie built a trip around the amazing sights we had requested visiting, together with her own suggestions and a wide mix of hotels, which gave us the flavours of both traditional Sri Lanka and the sleek, stylish contemporary version of the country. Our Driver made the whole experience incredibly special for us.

I can’t thank Cherylle and the Red Dot team enough for their meticulous planning of our family holiday to India travelling through Rajasthan over Christmas. As a family of all adults, every suggestion from daily activities to hotel choices was simply perfect. We travelled through Delhi, Ranthambore (an unforgettable tiger safari!), Jaipur and Agra and I truly feel we experienced the very best of each destination while moving at a relaxed, well thought out pace

My partner arranged a holiday trip at fairly short notice to Sri Lanka with Red Dot on a recommendation, Samanthie was so patient & helpful with her suggested itinerary which we followed with some minor amendments. On arrival at Colombo we met Manjula our chauffeur/guide who was absolutely brilliant!

Dulmini and the Red Dot Team arranged a fantastic trip for us around Assam and North East India. Faultless service. I cannot recommend them more highly.

Wonderful company. Our holiday in Sri Lanka was perfect. Local knowledge made all the difference

We looked up, and communicated with umpteen tour operators. Though Red Dot seemed to have offices in Sri Lanka and the UK, they seemed to have the best reviews. We were fortunate enough to correspond with Cherylle, who not only assured us of the safety of our friend, but created a personalised, and flexible, itinerary which we could not have done ourselves.

A 14-day tour with Red Dot Tours was the perfect antidote to the bleak UK winter. After a glowing recommendation from a friend, we contacted Red Dot Tours and were not disappointed. Our consultant, Lahiru, curated a seamless itinerary. Throughout the planning phase, Lahiru was incredibly responsive; the final itinerary—delivered via a user-friendly 'Guest Portal'—was impressively detailed, covering every hotel stay and excursion.
