Location
Blue Water is a four-star hotel with a youthful feel conveniently situated only 20 miles south of Colombo, in Wadduwa - the gateway to the West coast. Designed by the reputed Sri Lankan architect, Geoffrey Bawa, its main theme is the ambitious use of water, which gives the hotel its name. The journey from Colombo's international airport will take approximately two hours.
Introduction
if you like water, you'll adore Blue Water. Mini ponds, streams, fountains and waterways are everywhere - and water even winds through the hotel lobby. Blue Water's swimming pool is one of the largest in the world, holding about five times the water normally found in a hotel pool. Dry land consists of 100 spacious and well-appointed rooms, spacious gardens, dotted with shady palm trees, and a 200m beach frontage beyond.

The 100 spacious rooms, four of the deluxe - are simple but luxurious and combine modern wooden fittings and cool terracotta flooring. They possess a/c, telephone, minibar, satellite TV with in-house movies, safety locker, balcony or terrace with sea view. The ensuite bathrooms have a bath or shower, wash basin and w/c.

Highly-regarded restaurant, 24-hour open-air coffee shop, 24-hour room service, three bars, state-of-the-art nightclub which often attracts Colombo revellers, hair and beauty salon, shop, pool bar and children's pool, gymnasium and health club, badminton, tennis, squash, snooker, table tennis, garden chess, business centre with Internet facilities, conference and banqueting, doctor on call, babysitting on request. The beautifully designed Spa Pavilions offer a holistic approach to physical and spiritual well being providing a sanctuary for the senses. Relaxing Ayurveda therapies as well as Aromatherapy are on offer here using essential oils and medicinal herbs.
Excursions
Several water sports including surfing, snorkeling, jet skiing are on offer just nearby in Bentota and Hikkaduwa. Go out to sea in a catamaran with the fisherman or take a boat ride along the tranquil Madu River past quaint rural villages, en route, visit the local markets, temples & craft and antique shops. Visit Kosgoda's Marine Turtle hatchery - a valuable conservation project that protects the endangered Marine Turtles of Sri Lanka. Experience Ambalangoda's cultural heritage with a visit to the Ariyapala Mask Museum where intricate masks used in various southern traditional dance forms are on display. Masked dancing is also performed here regularly.
