Ellerton Lodge is a four bedroom planter’s bungalow set on a hilltop, 2,400 feet above sea level with magnificent views across the Kandyan mountains in Gampola. Situated on a 9-acre organic tea and spice estate, Ellerton is about 45 minutes away from the hill capital Kandy and is en route to the hill country towns of Nuwara Eliya and Hatton. The drive from Colombo will take about four and a half hours.
Introduction
Ellerton is a peaceful hill-county property blessed with magnificent hill-country views. This 100-year-old planter's bungalow has been refurbished by its British owners, who have successfully blended old world charm with some modern touches. The property consists of the old colonial-style Main House and the Valley House, a separate newly-constructed three-bedroom villa with panoramic views of the Mawanella mountain range. Carefully selected antique furniture blended with contemporary touches, oriental rugs, photographs and murals, an interesting library, and the pet dogs - Ben and Polly - all give Ellerton a relaxing homely feel.

Accommodation
Accommodation is in the Main House which is a refurbished century old planter’s bungalow; and the Valley House which is more modern and recently constructed.

Main House:  a large Colonial style planter's bungalow with two spacious double rooms, both of which have a dressing area and en suite bathrooms. One room is furnished with a large double bed and the other has twin beds. The bathrooms have twin vanities, hot and cold water showers and bathtub.

Valley House: situated just 30 yards from the Main House within the same garden and overlooks the mountains and the valley below. Two bedrooms open-out to the front verandah and have comfortable beds on polished concrete bases and built-in seating. The large main bedroom situated at the back is on split levels and is furnished with a King-size four poster bed, a day bed and has a lounging area. Ensuite bathrooms have h/w shower.  Airconditioning is not required at Ellerton where the climate is comfortable in the evenings. Rooms have overhead fans.
Facilities
The Valley House verandah opens out to a magnificent infinity pool overlooking the mountains. There are plenty of spaces with tranquil views to relax with a good book including the pool deck, the verandah or the garden swing at the edge of the property. Meals are served where ever you wish - the elegant dining room in the Main House, the Pavilion - an open sided deck by the Main House with mountainous views, or in the Verandah at the Valley House. Sri Lankan rice and curries and western dishes are prepared by the in-house chef using local condiments and fresh produce mostly from the Ellerton plantation. The library area in the Valley House has a fridge and tea / coffee making facility. Local alcoholic and soft drinks are served free of charge with meals. Wine is not available, but guests are welcome to bring their own. The lounge in the Main House has a television, DVD player, and music system. Internet access is available at the Plantation office.
Excursions
Explore the surrounding organic plantation which cultivates tea, fruits, vegetables, pepper, coffee and cloves. The manager will guide you on nature walks or bicycle trails (bicycles are available for guests to use) through the village of Gurukelle and the Nilambe Hydro Power damn where the amazing natural rock formations downstream resemble a movie set from a pre-historic film. This is a nature lover's paradise with exotic flora and fauna including numerous species of birds, butterflies, deer, and monkeys. 45 minutes away is the city of Kandy steeped in history and culture with much to see including the sacred Temple of the Tooth and Peradeniya's Botanical Gardens.
