Location
The Cinnamon Grand has become the most sought-after five star hotel in Colombo. This majestic atrium hotel is situated on 10 acres of landscaped gardens just a few yards away from the Indian Ocean and in the thick of the city centre, an ideal resting point at the start or the end of your holiday in Sri Lanka, as well as a perfect location for business travellers. The drive from the International airport is about one hour.
Introduction
Cinnamon Grand -- once part of the Oberoi chain but now rebranded and much improved -- belongs to the exclusive Cinnamon properties owned by the John Keells group. This city centre hotel possesses a grandeur and opulence beyond other Colombo five-stars -- although Cinnamon Lakeside and the Hilton, in particular, also have their admirers. Accommodation
The hotel has 501 luxurious rooms and suites with views of Colombo's skyline and the turquoise blue waters of the Indian Ocean. Standard & Deluxe Rooms - Bedrooms are tastefully furnished and have a/c, telephone, and large satellite TV with video channel, data-port access, mini-bar, radio, safe, and well-appointed bathrooms. All floors are equipped with mobile-phone transmitters to ensure clear reception. The deluxe rooms are plusher than the Standard rooms and have a business desk.

Premier Rooms: Located on the Executive floors, these rooms have large plasma TV and DVD player, stylish lighting, bathroom with `rain dance' showers and large bath, full-length mirror in dressing area, veneered writing desk with adjustable desk lamp and leather chair, mini bar console, a chaise lounge with woven leather arms replaces the usual sofa and has a moveable side table for easy dining. The executive lounge, the largest rooftop lounge in the city, overlooks the Beira Lake and has a private meeting room, individual work stations with Internet access, private kitchen and special lift to the floor.

Presidential Suites: There are two luxurious presidential suites, offering a private dining room for up to 10 people, living room and powder room.
Facilities
The ground floor area has a modern, minimalist and immensely spacious feel. An expansive lobby includes a fountain with seating, and a tea lounge with bar and patisserie. There are many dining options - a Coffee Shop in the main foyer; the popular Cheers Pub with snooker and pool; several restaurants including Tao - an open-air fusion restaurant; Lagoon, the best fish restaurant in town; Taprobane and London Grill for fine dining; Chutneys serving South Indian cuisine and the newly opened Nugagaha which specialises in sumptuous Sri Lankan cuisine. There is a large outdoor swimming pool, the atmospheric outdoor Breeze bar, the fabulous Angsana Spa with an extensive menu of relaxation therapies, as well as a fully equipped fitness center, and rooftop swimming pool. There is a well-equipped business centre with complete facilities including Internet access.
Excursions
This is an ideal base from which to explore Colombo including its colonial history during the Portuguese, Dutch and the British periods in Sri Lanka. Interesting sites include the Fort and Pettah, the capital's largest bazaar, several old Dutch churches, the National Museum and the Dutch Museum. The capital also offers several attractive shopping outlets, especially Paradise Road, Barefoot and Odels. Golfers will enjoy the Royal Colombo Golf Club, a 15-minute drive.
