Location
Era Beach, a luxurious eight-roomed boutique hotel, adds further lustre to the upmarket beach settlement of Thalpe, a 10-minute drive from the historic city of Galle. Journeys from Colombo’s international airport will take about two hours via the Southern Expressway or take the Air Taxi, which offers flights from Colombo’s international airport directly to Koggala which is just 10 minutes away from Era Beach.
Introduction
Era Beach unfolds within two beautifully-refurbished colonial-period bungalows which now house the main restaurant and lounge bar. An additional two-storey section houses the bedrooms and blends in seamlessly. A 23-metre swimming pool is the focus of the property and overlooks a garden scattered with palm trees and leading to the turquoise seas. The buildings have tall timber columns and high ceilings, open verandas and courtyards that welcome in the tropical sun and gentle ocean breezes. Era Beach is managed by the Jetwing Group who also owns several hotels on the North West coast, Cultural Triangle, Galle and the hill country.

Accommodation
There are eight luxurious bedrooms with four on the ground floor opening out to the gardens and the swimming pool and four on the upper floor with spectacular sea views. All rooms are stylishly furnished with four poster beds dressed in fine linen and open out to a private courtyard or balcony. The ensuite bathrooms have h/w shower. In-room facilities include a/c, IDD telephone, cable TV, DVD and CD player, tea / coffee facility, mini-bar, and room service.

Sea View Suites: These four suites are located on the upper floor and opens out to a large balcony with stunning sea views. Upon request private dining is organised on the balcony.

Garden Suites: Two Garden Suites are located by the swimming pool and has a private courtyard.

Lobby Suites: Two Lobby Suites are located off the main lobby area. One is furnished with two antique single beds.
Facilities
The restaurant serves a range of dishes with a Mediterranean/Asian influence prepared with fresh seafood purchased daily from the local fisherman and other locally purchased produce. Meals are also served in the garden or in the privacy of your own balcony or terrace. The Lounge Bar serves a full range of alcoholic beverages. The salt-water swimming pool with an extensive granite deck is ideal for relaxing and taking in the sun. The gardens at Era Beach lead to a secluded sandy beach where swimming is possible during the season from December to April. Other facilities include wifi internet, butler service, and doctor-on-call. Guests at Era Beach are welcome to use the facilities at Jetwing Lighthouse including the Spa, gym, and tennis and squash courts.
Excursions
The beaches of Unawatuna and Mirissa located nearby are ideal for swimming, snorkeling and surfing. The Mirissa Watersports located at the Mirissa harbour, offers sailing, fishing, coastal cruises, river trips, sea kayaking, snorkelling and boating. Dolphin and Whale watching is offered from December to April. Koggala Lake, with its many tiny islands inhabited with several species of birds, is another wonderful experience. We recommend a visit to the historic 17C Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with narrow streets lined with Dutch and British colonial era buildings which are still in use, sturdy ramparts looking out to sea, the lighthouse, and a growing collection of shops, art galleries, cafes and several boutique hotels with fine dining restaurants.
