Introduction
Originally owned by a British governor during the colonial period, this sprawling mansion, caringly refurbished by its new Sri Lankan owners, has quickly won praise for its high standards. Panelled walls, wooden floors, fireplaces, and old black and white photos that tellof a bygone era have all been retained. The interiors are tastefully furnished with antiques, flowing drapes, and fresh flowers from the gardens. The outdoors here is wonderful with terraced gardens and spectacular mountain views. On a clear day, even Adam’s Peak can be seen at a distance. Relax with a cup of fine Ceylon tea on the manicured lawns; explore the Ottery Estate, Dickoya and the picturesque Castelreigh Reservoir. By dusk, play a game of billiards on the century old billiards table, and wind down with a drink by the fireplace. The Suites at Governor’s Mansion are given out on an all-inclusive basis.
