The Sri Lanka Travel Specialists
White dominates Orchard House – corridors, pillars, and even floors are white with only the soft furnishings and ornaments adding vibrant colour. The villa has a spacious living area and a long courtyard full of lush greenery, which is the main focus of all the bedrooms. A pillared pavilion perfect for al fresco dining and a small swimming pool are at the back. The villa is furnished with antique Dutch-period four-poster beds, almeirahs, tables and planters’ chairs.
Orchard House has four bedrooms opening out to the central courtyard and garden. Three double bedrooms are furnished with queen size four-poster antique beds and one with two single four-poster beds. Overhead fans help to keep the rooms cool and comfortable. The ensuite bathrooms have a heated towel rail and h/w showers.
Living and dining areas open out to the back gardens. There is also phone, wifi, study, den with comfortable furniture, TV, music system; and a well equipped kitchen. Both Western dishes and Sri Lankan rice and curry are served, using fresh local produce. Accompany the cook, if you wish, to the local market. Orchard House also has an English-speaking manager, housekeeper and gardener.
Orchard House is a restored 18th century colonial-style villa situated within the walls of Galle’s Dutch Fort. The journey from Colombo’s International Airport will take approximately 2.5 hours - or take the Air Taxi and fly to nearby Koggala. If you are heading into the hills afterwards, we offer competitive rates on a sea plane service from Koggala lake to Hatton.
