Location
Slightly Chilled is a family-run Guest House situated in the central highlands in Dalhousie, overlooking the Kelani River and the sacred Sri Pada or Adam's Peak Mountain. Perched at the edge of a sloping hill with spectacular views of the Adam's Peak and the surrounding forest reserve, this is a nature lover's dream and an excellent spot from which to access this sacred pilgrimage site. Dalhousie is the starting point of the Adam's Peak climb and can be accessed via Hatton or through Avissawella.
Introduction
This guest house, owned by the Dissanayake family, was originally located at the foot of Adam's Peak. Due to government restrictions, the guest house had to move from this location and eventually, with foreign partnership, relocated to Dalhousie. It's present name `slightly chilled' was crowned by the foreign partner who had visited the original guest house previously many times, and appreciated the homely, relaxing, comfortable and caring environment that the Dissanayake family extended to their guests. The new Slightly Chilled Yellow House, with stone, timber and glass exteriors and colourful interiors, opened in 2005. Its position at the edge of a hill and large glass panels allows for spectacular views of Adam's Peak from the dining area as well as the bedrooms. The interiors are light and airy, with a profusion of colours.
