There is no finer, more welcoming place in the world than Sri Lanka for a cricket tour and no-one knows the Sri Lankan cricket community more intimately than Red Dot. It was cricket that brought Red Dot to Sri Lanka and no-one is better equipped to arrange cricket tours of this beautiful island. Sri Lanka’s formidable spirit has survived many recent hardships and we can now eagerly await a festival of World Cup cricket coming to the sub-continent in 2011.

The island and cricket is thriving – we invite you to come and be part of it.

Foreword: Kumar Sangakkara, Sri Lankan Captain
The British introduced many things to Sri Lanka during the Colonial period and not all were greeted with great enthusiasm. However, cricket is one colonial implant that was happily embraced and is now universally loved throughout this island.

Cricket in Sri Lanka is thriving nowadays all around the island after the exploits of our 1996 World Cup winning team. It is a deeply loved game that is followed with remarkable enthusiasm. Cricketing is a shared passion, a unifying force throughout our difficult years, and always a source of inspiration.

This passion and exuberance for the game makes Sri Lanka an amazing island in which to play cricket. It is not easy playing here – as many foreign teams have discovered to during the past century – but it is definitely a fun and rewarding experience.

As a destination for tours by schools, clubs, universities and representative sides, I can’t think of any cricket-playing country in the world that offers more. I hope you will come and experience for yourself Sri Lanka’s famous hospitality and our great love for the world’s best game.

Cricket in Sri Lanka
At Red Dot, we like to think that Sri Lanka offers more for the cricket tourist than the Caribbean, Australia and South Africa, and at far superior value for money. The national psyche nurtures a deep-rooted passion for the game which automatically ascribes foreign cricketers with VIP status. Touring with us also means that you get the chance to play at a selection of Sri Lanka’s top-class Test venues, such as the Galle International Stadium, the SCC Colombo and the Rangiri Dambulla, as well as the recently established venues at Pallekele and Hambantota. Your experience is further enhanced by a tour assistant to guide you every step of the way, and we offer the option of expert cricket coaching at some of the island’s top training facilities.

Away from the cricket, explore a beautiful tropical island rich in cultural heritage - from the stunning southern beaches, to the heritage of the Cultural Triangle, to the spectacular tea plantations in the hill-country. Visit one of the island’s game parks, try a variety of water sports, and play golf on some of Asia’s finest courses.

Nowhere else in the world is quite such a rich tour experience available.

Tour Planning
Cricket Tours do not get organised overnight, but Red Dot is here to do the hard work for you, from concept to completion. Cricket tours cannot be sold off the peg. Each tour is very different and for this reason Red Dot has a team whose sole responsibility is the design and organisation of your itinerary. We hand pick opposition, hotels and venues to suit your needs. Throughout this process a Red Dot consultant will be in constant discussion with you in order to formulate the perfect tour. As with the tours, the process in building an itinerary varies. We pride ourselves on flexibility, but click here to see the tour planning model we work around. [More]

The Murali Cup
Endorsed by the legendary Sri Lankan spin hero Muttiah ‘Murali’ Muralitharan and handled by Red Dot Tours, the inaugural Murali Cup international schools’ festival attracts Under 18 senior school teams from all over the world to compete with their local, regional and international counterparts in July 2011.

The Murali Cup does do only place an emphasis on cricket, but also ties in with the island’s Foundation of Goodness (FoG) project to provide schoolboy cricketer’s with a special insight and appreciation for the local communities in which they will be playing their cricket. Partaking schools are encouraged to fund raise prior to arrival and interact hands-on with specific designated FoG development schemes. The educational aspect to the festival also includes the promotion of the MCC’s ethos of the spirit of cricket. Special guest speakers and faces of Sri Lankan cricket will be invited to give coaching advice and run evening seminars to speak informally about the game, the art of captaincy and the Sri Lankan perspective.

Supporters Tours
Red Dot has a reputation as the market leader for tailor made supporter tours to Sri Lanka. Our intimate knowledge of the island, coupled with our willingness to be flexible when designing itineraries for our clients, gives us a distinct edge over our competitors. Typically, we offer the widest range of accommodation, from standard international class hotels to boutique hotels and even friendly guesthouses. We cater to all budgets. We also have excellent access to match tickets and usually run a series of events during Sri Lanka tours, from golf days to sixes competitions. We also offer supporters packages to India.

Community Days
Red Dot works closely with the Foundation of Goodness near Galle. The charity was set up by Kushil Gunasekera in the aftermath of the tsunami, and is championed by Muttiah Muralitharan and supported by cricketers the world over. The village has a cricket pitch at its centre and we encourage touring teams to have a match here. It is a unique way in which your club, university or school can give something back to the island and its people.[More]

Cricket in South India and Malaysia
Red Dot now offers tours to South India and Malaysia. Combine one of these destinations with Sri Lanka or spend your full stay in either country. Both are also great destinations for cricket tours. India’s passion for the game is even greater than Sri Lanka’s, while Malaysia is a relatively unknown secret with its excellent facilities, picturesque venues and modern hotels. Like Sri Lanka, both offer plenty to do on non-cricket days.
