Built by the Dutch in the early 1800s, Taru Villas - Lighthouse Street was recently restored to its former glory by the prominent interior designer Taru. Complete with antique furniture and intriguing pieces of artwork, yet modern amenities, the villa is a beautiful place to stay.
In the entrance of the hotel is a spacious living area, furnished with a comfy sofa and antique divan, where guests can take refuge from the heat and unwind. The earthly colour of the living area gives light and comfort to this 19th century villa and creates an air of homeliness.
From the large painting of a wild horse to the fine ornaments handpicked by Taru, every piece in this villa fits in perfectly with the juxtaposing modern/colonial vibe this renowned designer has strived to create.
There are four bedrooms; two superior rooms and two deluxe rooms, all of which are found on the first floor, except one of the deluxe rooms which is located on the ground floor. There is also an intimate dining room which seats up to 8 guests, and a roof top terrace, which can be used as a private dining area or a space in which to lounge and relax.
