Why House is a family-orientated 1o room boutique hotel just inland from Thalpe on Sri Lanka's Galle Coast and is adored for its laid back flexible feel.
It's just 5 minutes from the brilliant Dalawella Beach, so you get the best of both worlds; space and tranquility and just a short hop to the beach or even Galle. It consists of a spacious main house, a garden villa, and two cottages in three acres of tropical gardens. The architecture is typical of Sri Lanka's south with verandahs, courtyards and high timber roofs.
Vibrant interiors with an English feel have soft sofas, antique style furniture, colourful murals and photographs of old Ceylon. Relax by the poolside surrounded by lush tropical greenery, hop down to the beach and explore Galle. There's so much on offer from here. Three in-house chefs specialise in Sri Lankan and international cuisine which is enjoyed by adults and kids, This is a firm favourite for our families or for those wanting something charming and sociable.

- You can book by the room or take the whole place for exclusive use. This is ideal for larger multigenerational families or small groups travelling together
It's not actually on the beach, but within 5 minutes you can be there. Don't let this put you off, as the space and atmosphere at Why House cannot be replicated along the coast. This is a special place
If you're a couple looking for total grown up solitude, this may not be the place as it's fairly sociable and welcoming of children
Families are very welcome at Why House, which is why we love it so much. A range of rooms and configurations can accommodate families, there's plenty of kids food on the menu and there's a lovely pool to jump into. Parent's also will feel relaxed small kids are warmly welcomed by the staff.
Just 15 minutes from Galle, and 5 minutes from the beach. It's also only 2 hours from Colombo.
Cycling, surfing, visit Galle, cookery lessons, spa treatments, local cricket game, visit Koggala Lake. You can also visit Ahangama, just 20 minutes away, which has many restaurants.
