La Villa Sanctuary is a spacious two bedroom villa situated in Thalawathugoda in the suburbs of Colombo. Located at the edge of a protected wetland with tropical foliage that attracts many species of birds, this an ideal first or last stop on a holiday in Sri Lanka. The drive into Colombo city will take up to 20 minutes and the journey from the international airport is about one hour. The villa is located en route to the southern coastal beaches as well as the hill country.
Introduction
La Villa Sanctuary is a modern upstairs house with the living and dining area on the ground floor which opens out to a large pond on one side and a plunge pool on the other. There are two a/c bedrooms on the upper floor with the spacious master bedroom having views across the wetlands and the parliament building at a distance which was designed by Sri Lanka’s iconic architect, the late Geoffrey Bawa. La Villa Sanctuary is given out on a villa only basis and can accommodate up to six guests. Guests can order their meals from the in-house menu.

Accommodation
The upper floor consists of a spacious master bedroom and a second bedroom that are furnished with queen size beds, wardrobe and work desk. Both bedrooms have a/c, overhead fans and LCD TVs with cable channels.

Master bedroom: This bedroom is furnished with a four-poster queen size bed and opens out to a large terrace with views across the wetlands that attract plenty of birds. The ensuite bathroom has a Jacuzzi bathtub and h/w rain head shower.

Second bedroom: This is a smaller room that also has an ensuite bathroom with h/w shower.

The bedrooms can comfortably accommodate four guests. There are two roll away beds that can be put in for two additional guests.
Facilities
The entire living room has a/c and overhead fans and is furnished with modern sofas, lounge chairs, and music system. The living room opens out to a plunge pool with Jacuzzi which is 25ft in length and 10 ft wide. The open sided dining area looks out into the wetlands and thick tropical foliage. Guests can also choose to dine on the terrace or by the poolside. La Villa Sanctuary is staffed with a caretaker and a manger cum cook who prepares Sri Lankan and western meals as well as BBQs. Guests are welcome to bring their own liquor.
Excursions
Explore the town of Battaramulla with its scattering of restaurants and shops. Do a walk along the parliament grounds and the shady sidewalks. Nature lovers may wish to visit the Talangama wetlands which are home to over 45 species of birds including Purple Swamp hens, Pheasant-tailed Jacanas, White-breasted Water hens and Spotted Doves. Many options for shopping, dining, and entertainment are available in the city of Colombo just a 20 minute drive away from the Villa.
