Zion View is a family run guesthouse in Ella standing at the edge of a cliff with spectacular views of Ella Gap, and conveniently placed for Ella train station. Situated 3,300 ft. above sea level, this stunningly landscape in the southern highlands can be accessed by train or by road via Nuwara Eliya, the south via Wellawaya, or via Kitulgala and Ratnapura.
Introduction
Zion View is a seven-bedroom guesthouse offering clean and comfortable rooms with beautiful views of Ella gap, courteous service and home-cooked food. The Sri Lankan owners are at hand to ensure that guests are well taken care of. Zion View is accessed via a steep flight of steps downhill and is designed so that scenic views of Ella rock, little Adam’s Peak and the valley beyond are visible from the bedrooms as well as the restaurant. With much climbing to do, Zion View is not recommended for those with mobility difficulties.

Accommodation
All seven bedrooms open out to a spacious balcony with mountain views. Three bedrooms are on the top floor (one is a family room where an additional single bed can be put in); one double room is at the middle level; and three more rooms are at a lower level. All are spacious and are comfortably furnished with twin or double beds fitted with mosquito netting. Ensuite bathrooms have h/w showers.
Facilities
The open-sided restaurant serves only Sri Lankan cuisine prepared according to traditional recipes and cooked in clay pots. There is a marvellous viewpoint by the restaurant. Other facilities include sun beds and hammocks, wifi internet, telephone, room service, laundry service and picnic lunches on request.
Excursions
Several treks are possible from here to Little Adam’s Peak, the ancient Dova Temple, and Ravana caves and Ravana falls associated with the epic Ramayana tales. Zion View can organise a guide for the treks. Learn about the famous Ceylon Tea and its production with a visit to a nearby tea estate and tea factory. Adisham, a Benedictine Monastery, and several waterfalls including Dunhinda and Diyaluma are also located nearby in Bandarawela, and Haputale.
