129 high-pitched, thatched roof bungalows and villas line the shore, hiding chic interiors with pops of colour - we love the beach villas for their spacious outdoor bathrooms but ocean lovers will enjoy the over-water villas, which can be enjoyed both with or without a plunge pool. Despite not having a kids club, there are plenty of suitable villa options for families, as well as babysitting available on request. Children’s menus can also be provided at some of the restaurants and you’ll be spoiled for choice of activities. Take every chance to enjoy the ocean, trying out waterskiing, windsurfing or wakeboarding, sea kayaking, or scuba diving with Immersion, the hotel’s PADI dive centre. You could also try to catch your dinner with the help of the resort’s fishermen - if successful, your catch will be prepared to perfection by the island’s restaurant chefs.
On land, there’s also a tennis court, chill-out lounge, and a cinema under the stars. Not to mention the sprawling spa, complete with a sunken swimming pool and overwater treatment rooms. Meal times are a treat, with a selection of eight restaurants and bars to choose from serving everything from Teppanyaki to fresh seafood. Dinner is served in the main buffet restaurant, where a nightly theme keeps things fresh and exciting. Throughout the day, keep your eyes peeled for the ice cream man who circles the island for a refreshing snack. As the sun sets, sip a drink at the overwater bar, head out for some night snorkelling, or venture by boat in search of dolphins, accompanied by champagne and canapes. DJs and live musicians await back at the hotel’s bars but you can always find a quiet corner to round off the day in peace.
What we love
- Watch dolphins, rays and turtles on the sunset cruise, and go that extra mile with champagne and canapes too
- The island stays alive after the sun has set, with DJs, traditional music and regular movie nights providing a buzzing atmosphere
- If you love water sports, then you’re in luck. Waterskiing, windsurfing, wakeboarding, kayaking, sailing, water rockets, and scuba diving await you
- We love the spa, offering a variety of therapies from across the globe, from Thailand, Bali and even Scandinavia
- Guests praise the special touches, from the delicious fruit platters ready for you on arrival, to the ice cream cart circling the island every day
This is not a traditional all-inclusive, and many food and drink items on the menus cost a little extra. Just make sure you factor this into your budget
Families should keep in mind that there is no children's club on the island, and some rooms have balconies that are unsuitable for younger children, but families are welcome and there is plenty for children to do
Being so close to Male could feel like a slight disadvantage for some
There is no beach drinks service, but guests do frequently comment on how great the bar service is
