With a pristine beach on your doorstep, wild jungle behind you, and paddyfields all around, it is a beautiful sanctuary immersed in nature. Part of the Reverie Collection, whose sister properties are some of Sri Lanka’s most desirable, including Ceylon Tea Trails and Cape Weligama, you’re assured of the highest levels of service, attention to detail and little touches of luxury everywhere you look. The hotel is built around Ayurvedic wellness principles and guests can opt for anything from a restorative treatment to a holistic immersion programme. There are eight guest rooms and suites, each with a private terrace and ceiling fan, and the suites have private jacuzzis.
Lush gardens centre around a palm-fringed swimming pool, and nearby is an open air yoga pavilion overlooking the ocean. From the gardens, a couple of steps lead you onto golden sands which beg to be explored on a barefoot stroll. Dining is a treat, but there are no menus. Instead the chefs and team create culinary delights to suit your palate, Ayurvedic and dietary requirements. Most guests won’t want to leave the sanctuary of the house and gardens, but for those keen to explore, there is plenty to fill your days including surfing, private whale watching excursions, snorkelling and sunset yacht sailing.

With the focus on wellness and peaceful setting, the property is best suited to couples or families with older children The ocean currents can be strong, so sea swimming is only recommended for experienced swimmers (anyone less sure can swim to their heart’s content in the hotel pool)
Families are welcome at Kayaam House and additional beds can be added to rooms as required. The Palm View Residence has a loft room for up to four children and there’s a private lounge area, private garden and jacuzzi, too. We feel the hotel is best suited to families with older children as the hotel tends to attract couples looking for peace and relaxation.
Kindness to nature and people is at the heart of the Reverie and Resplendent Ceylon group’s ethos. Kayaam House is the first hotel of its kind in rural Rekawa, bringing new employment opportunities as well as showcasing a new hidden corner of the south coast to visitors. They support the local communities through their activities as well as buying buffalo milk, fruit and vegetables from the village.
Twenty minutes outside Tangalle town, Kayaam House is located in Rekawa. Colombo is a three hour drive away and Galle and Yala National Park are an hour and a half’s drive away, both on good roads.
