Uga Bay

Uga Bay is a small and incredibly comfortable beach hotel in the re-energised beach area of Pasikudah on Sri Lanka's East Coast.

This friendly resort is set on a seven-acre property scattered with coconut palms leading to a seriously beautiful beach where the waters are warm and safe for swimming for much of the year. Its semi-circular design allows for ocean, beach and garden views from all its rooms and suites, as well as the restaurant and pool.

When you enter through the main doorway you are greated with a view of infinite water, starting at the pond and the swimming pool and finally reaching the turquoise seas of the Indian Ocean. In total there are 46 Beach and Ocean Studios, a spacious Two Bedroom Suite and an intimate Beach Villa that allows direct access to the beach. You'll also find a games room, and a small spa. We think it's a brilliant option for those wanting a small resort on a spectacular beach.

What we love

The beach is seriously nice and gently shelves. It feels very different from the rustic coastlines found elsewhere in Sri Lanka
Rooms are incredibly comfortable and well apointed
It's good for families as well as couples, as the beach and ocean feel so calm
This is the best option in Passikudah
This is a brilliant option from May to September

Rooms are not designed with familiies in mind; there are no interconnecting rooms

There's one main restaurant, it would be nice to have more options. Having said that it’s atmopsheric and the food is good

Service isn't perfect like most of Sri Lanka, but you'll be met with a smile

The beach can get a little busy in the school holidays

Yes kids are warmly welcome and the pool, beach and ocean are well suited to families. There's a games room for older kids, and a few beach toys for younger toddlers. You'll also find a kids menu in the restaurant and room service. However, don't expect a fully equipped kids club or activities program as this is largely a resort designed with adults in mind. We found that the Bay Suite is perfectly suited to families wanting two bedrooms with a living space.

If Red Dot ever ceased to exist and I wanted to return to Sri Lanka I would probably go somewhere else instead. They were, in every way shape and form, impeccable. Exceptional tour of Sri Lanka with Dami. We cannot recommend Dami at Red dot tours highly enough. As our guide over 9 days he made sure that our trip to Sri Lanka was unforgettable- always going above & beyond to impart his knowledge, show us things off the beaten track, looking after us, getting us to try many local delicacies & making us laugh .. a LOT. Cannot imagine anyone doing a better job- if we could take him with us on every holiday we would!

Dulmini did a great job listening to our wishes and arranged an itinerary that was very busy but met all our needs. Sisira, our guide, was outstanding, providing us with great local knowledge and suggesting other activities on our travels. He was a great driver on the busy Sri Lankan roads, was always punctual but above all added colour to the whole trip.

Wow what can I say, from start to finish we have had a wonderful holiday with Red Dot Tours. Dulmini was so helpful in putting an itinerary together for us as a family of 6 and catering to all of our needs. We have ticked off so many of Sri Lanka’s beautiful sights during our trip. We spent 13 days on a Bawa tour with wonderful driver and guide Manjula, including Kandalama Heritance, The Kandy House, The Last House, Jetwing Yala, Jetwing Lighthouse and Club Villa hotels. We are 3 friends, one of them in the wheelchair. Dulmini Ekanayake from Red Dot Tours was very helpful and very patient and found solutions to all our special demands.

This is an excellent tour company. They planned our Sri Lankan holiday from start to finish. The trip was initially planned for 2022 but due to Covid and other issues we didn’t manage to undertake the trip until this year. As a group of 8 we have had the most fabulous tour of Sri Lanka organised by Dulmini from RedDot who totally understood my brief of "some" culture, agriculture, nature, trekking and relaxation. The hotels chosen were a wonderful mixture of homestay, tented and pure luxury (Ceylon Tea Trails). The experiences to local villages, trekking the Pekoe Trail and climbing Pidurangala were memorable and our wonderful guide, Ananda, was so informative and knowledgeable and adapted to our needs admirable (not easy with a group of 8)
