Nubra Valley
Hidden away between the Ladakh range and the higher Karakoram range, the Nubra Valley is a lush, fertile enclave, surrounded by cold desert sands and soaring peaks.
While the barren mountains appear inhospitable, the meeting of the Shyok and Nubra rivers creates rich fields and orchards on the valley floor, leading to the region’s other name; ‘valley of flowers’. Sway through rugged deserts on a bactrian camel safari and be lifted by the sight of the 106ft statue of the Buddha at Diskit monastery, the oldest and largest monastery in Nubra, to understand the diverse experiences of the valley. /p>
